The fact that you think this makes it better. God you forget that theatre is full of losers from Omaha until the topic is something that requires actually thought or consideration for another human being and then you're quickly reminded."
LOL I'm from the Bronx. And I sure hope you're black because you're the only person here saying some CRAZY racist stuff.

That’s a pretty pathetic statement but I’m not surprised that you made it. The Italian people that I know are not racists and do not have anything negative to say about any of the races. Just speaks volumes about who you associate with……

What have I said that's racist? Mentioned white people? We're talking about theatre on a message board, I feel safe making that bet. I can pull up the audience data if you'd like.
Or perhaps my comments that being a "person of color" doesn't mean I care about someone's opinion on racism. If that's racist then yeah I guess I am. When I'm talking about racially insensitive comments towards Black women I really don't care if people who aren't Black agree with me. Sorry if that offends anybody but like...I also really don't care.
Frankly I'm surprised that so many people are surprised by my comments. Weren't we told in this very thread that it's refreshing that Patti speaks her mind? Well I wanna be refreshing too. I could get my point across in language a bit more poetic or academic but I'm done pulling punches. Why be nice about it when we can all speak freely! Screw Patti, screw y'all, and screw the ghost of Arthur Laurents.
You connected black women and physical violence....
and used "massa" in a sentence.....
You're the only person who has used racially insensitive language.
Ke3 said: My comment was not only directed at you but everyone on this thread trying to make their eyes touch their assholes in defense of a woman who's never done a damn thing worth defending. If Audra or Kecia had called Patti a bitch would you all be rushing to find reasons they might be justified in doing so? Don't answer, I've seen how you act when Black performers say or do things you don't like. None of the grace you all seem to have for Dear Old Patti is ever extended to them.
As for you being a "person of color" I can't begin to tell you how much I don't care. Person of color is a meaningless term meant to muddy the waters of specific conversations. If you are Black I will gladly discuss with you why I find Patti's comments racist. Any other identity or background or passport color? I don't care.
As for SallyDurantDumber's assertion that I'm "reducing" Patti's statement, Patti is an AARP member who's been stringing sentences together for a long time. She chose to use the word bitch because she meant it and while I'm sure it's lovely for all of you to pretend you don't know why she used it I won't sit around and play braindead with you."
Engaging with racist assholes who refuse to understand that WOC have to work 50 times harder to achieve the same level of success as their white counterparts is a giant waste of your time. These people do not matter. They will attack you and defend their bullsh*t because they can't and will never accept the fact that they are dumb, ignorant and racist. They actually think they are different from the MAGAS because they "vote Democrat". It's super cute. The people spewing sh*t the loudest? That is who you look out for and avoid here and everywhere in life if you can. Audra and Kecia are gorgeous, successful, relevant women. Audra has twice as many Tonys as this insignificant boomer. Love that that generation is dying out.
Audra looks amazing on the cover of Time. Classy, gorgeous, smart, sophisticated and not ugly like this despicable creature who actually said "Audra knows better" like she is some kind of child that needs to be scolded. Racist has-beens are the worst. And now I will continue to resume my lovely Memorial Day away from the racist, horrible human beings of BWW. Kisses.

If you couldn't imagine the sardonic tone surrounding "Well as long as Massa doesn't think it's racist" I don't really know how you understand Sondheim shows. Perhaps you'd like something by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It's all spelled out for you there.
Yeah girl, it's still racially insensitive language.
Anyways, Audra is also my favorite Rose too, if I'm being honest.
This is one of the most entertaining threads we’ve had on here in years.
That said, I read four pages of this craziness and STILL haven’t gotten the reason for Patti and Audra’s initial falling out…

I just scrolled through four pages of this, and my only takeaway is that Audra and Patti don't like each other.

Lesbianism.

I had the same exact thought. Thank you all for your service on this Memorial Day!
I love Patti LuPone, and have since the first CD that I ever purchased (well, two CDs), namely the Evita cast recording. But that doesn't mean I'll defend everything she says or does, and in fact there's a lot of very obnoxious stuff in this article. I'm rather surprised that some folks are minimizing or defending her behavior here. I don't find it refreshing at all; I'd take the anodyne friendliness of many contemporary performers over savage attacks on other performers any day.

It is interesting that topic is the one thing she won't discuss. Whatever happened must be quite painful for her.
I never knew they disliked each other. Curious if that started around the time they did “Passion” together.

Thank God America’s Sweetheart is enjoying her “lovely Memorial Day”. I wonder if she understands this is a day for remembrance and reflection. But I’m so happy for her that she took time out of her “lovely” day to offer us another passive aggressive unhinged post before she got back to her loveliness! BRAVO!!!!!!

I think you missed the concensus that "Patti will be Patti" and she can say or do as she pleases 😆 (oh and Stritch gets a pass too, apparently, as she was consistently nasty, thus ok.)
Audra, I know you're reading this! This is your opportunity to publicly call Patti a bitch! It's now or never!
LuPone absolutely must present Lead Actress in a Musical at this year’s Tony Awards. Please, oh please!

Lol. Patti's gonna Patti and the white losers on this board gonna defend it every time. Oh well!"
I'm curious who these "white losers on this board" are?
It was fine when Lewis said what she did about LuPone with alluding to racism but if LuPone after all this time mentions something it's LuPone who is at fault and does nothing to dispel the racism some people feel she is showing?
I do have a question for I guess us losers on the board.
I saw The Roommate early in its run and you could actually hear the music from Hell's Kitchen in the theatre. Does this make the audience at The Roommate racist because we wanted to hear the show we were actually in the theatre watching?
I'm not sure how wanting something done for the loudness of Hell's Kitchens music equates to what Lewis had to say about LuPone?
They know it's not actually racist. They just like to do mental backflips until it is. There is a huge amount of racism in the broadway community, but telling Hell's Kitchen to turn their sound down because it was bleeding into the theatre next door is not racist, OBVIOUSLY.
