Avram (from Fiddler): He's right. And he's right. They can't both be right.

Tevye: You know, you are also right.

I was just repeating the title of the article, it appears they’ve edited it. But that’s what it originally stated.

Ugh, I was trying not to see any more shows until after Jan 1st because I hate how bad traffic is during this time period but now I'll be seeing this Thursday.

Or you could take the continued shortening of its run as a sign that it really, really isn't any good and save yourself the hassle. One of my biggest disappointments of the entire year. And I love the original play. And Clive Owen.

lol I hear ya, I try to see every new play or musical that opens (not counting the one man shows/concerts and stuff like home for the holidays) so I was going no matter what, was able to grab a TDF ticket too. I like Clive Owen a lot and I've never seen the play before so I'm still looking forward to it.

Also safe to say that this is the last straight play Taymor directs on Broadway.

Playbill.com announced this afternoon that it is closing on THURSDAY. I wonder if people who purchased tickets get their money back."

It's a typo which they corrected in the next paragraph. It's closing Sunday. Shows don't close on Thursdays. And yes, if you had tickets for shows after Sunday, you get your money refunded.

I would have liked to have seen Clive Owen on broadway but not in that show. Kind of like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I really like Christian but did not want to see him in that show.

I also saw it Saturday and enjoyed it very much. As wonderful as the original production? No, but still a great play.

Four Twelves Are 48, Viva Madison Avenue!, General Seeger and Tricks of the Trade all closed on Thursdays. George C. Scott starred in the last two.

As for this production of M. Butterfly, it was wanting in several respects, but the play still held my interest.

those shows closed within a day of opening, a long time ago and on a different playing field. I think the post you responded to meant shows [produced by living producers] don't close on Thursdays.

Too bad, I was thinking about going just because I love Miss Saigon.

Does this mean Escape to Hell of Boredom deserves a shorter run than Butterfly?

I have not seen this show (out of town and didn't like the original production), but I am disappointed in its failure, because this is 0 for 2 for Clive Owen, and I can't help thinking that we may not be seeing him on the NY boards for a long, long time. Hope that I am wrong, because I think he is a terrific actor...I have in fact always wondered why he is not a bigger star than he is.

Very disappointing. I didn’t love this production and thought it was pretty ugly, but think the play is so thought-provoking that it deserves its place on Broadway. This is the kind of material I love to see. If only it were handled with a bit more care.

Not exactly a huge star right now. And Taymor has had a bad rep. But I'm sad to see it closing so earily. I hope i get to see it.

I saw it last night and I enjoyed it. It was my first time seeing the play so I have nothing to compare it to though. I also thought Clive Owen was much better in this than his last play.
