"The beauty is: he hasn't even begun to touch his screen career yet. I'm sure it'll just keep going and going from here on out on screen. But it's wonderful so the rest of world to start seeing what a brilliant actor he is."
Right? What and exciting thought! Can't wait to see the new Christopher Nolan film starring Rylance, Branagh, and Hardy. That sounds like a winner all around.
Rylance's win was worth staying up for. So deserved--although part of me wishes it could have been a tie with Sylvester Stallone. I hope he''ll get another chance.
And it was fun to see Brian d'Arcy James (and his eyebrows) make it up to the stage to join the Best Picture cast of SPOTLIGHT.
He seems like a lovely man and it's great that he won. That said, I would have killed for another kooky speech- it would have been such a brilliant moment!
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
My predictions for the six major Oscars were all exactly right, except for supporting actor where I said "it will be Sylvester Stallone, but SHOULD be Mark Rylance". So that one I missed, but I couldn't be happier with the choice.
It's those damn liberals in Hollywood. Of course they gave it to a guy from Europe playing a communist Russian over a card-carrying orange American/Republican.
So many good performances were not even nominated. When you have only 5 slots, many worthy performances do not get recognized. When changing rules, why not open up more slots in the acting categories for a start?

You cannot be serious. Mark Rylance gave a fantastic performance in BRIDGE OF SPIES. I loved Stallone and thought he was going to win, but Rylance did more than walk across a bridge. What a ludicrous statement. I bet you thought Meryl Streep just gave up her little girl to the Nazis in SOPHIE'S CHOICE, hunh?
I should have had the presence of mind to record Rylance's full speech but I didn't. Does anybody have a link to the full speech, "orange" included? I've seen only those excerpts referring to his love of stories.
Rylance & Stallone could be seen chatting amiably on the red carpet during the pre-show. My brain was telling me Rylance would win (the Academy likes to be taken seriously) & my heart was with Stallone (based on sentiment). Rylance gave a very nice acceptance speech & seems quite reputable.
