For the rush record, last friday the last person to get a ticket probably got in line at 7:45. It's not ridiculous every day. It really just varies day to day...greatly...
There are these things called discounts, while not as cheap as rush it's pretty damn close. I think getting those 3 extra hours of sleep is worth $10.
To be fair, the next to normal discount code is good for $70 and $85 seats which is far more than a $10 difference. Also, for the past month, the seat selection with the code has been horrendous.
what law firm?
They didn't say and I didn't ask. Had to be a pretty big one, because I'd estimate 75% of the house was associated with them.
"I'd estimate 75% of the house was associated with them"
That sounds a bit high for a show to be doing almost full capacity every week...unless they purchased this tickets when tickets were very very available and the show was vastly unknown.

Well, I was just making a guess. I didn't go around polling the audience, but the vast majority of them seemed associated with the law firm. Everyone seemed to know each other, and the intermission was about 5 minutes longer than normal because they had to get everyone back to their seats as people were all over the theater chatting with each other.

I think defyinggravity was referring to the rear mezz seats which are $36.50 and not bad, not to a discount code.
But really, other than far back under the overhang and the second and third rows against the walls, there really aren't BAD seats in the Booth, it's so small.

LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!
"Even VAL wouldn't do that for Julie Reiber's final performance in Wicked if they had rush."
This made me LOL. Even though I know a few people who dropped everything they were doing to rush over and see her last and then brag about it for days on Facebook. I wouldn't do that for anyone's last performance. There is always a way to get tickets that doesn't require sleeping out on the streets for days.
I'm seeing someone's Broadway debut on Sunday afternoon and I got a ticket like any normal person would. From Ticketmaster!
"Also, for the past month, the seat selection with the code has been horrendous."
2 weeks ago row D and G center orch and front mezz center were coming up in those discounted seats.
Don't believe everything that you hear! Only the peeps involved know the truth!
Law firms book these summer events months in advance- theres no doubt this outing to next to normal was planned by their recruiting staff in the winter/early spring- when getting tickets woulda been fairly simple.
Val, I hesitated to even post this, because you simply aren't worth my time. But, you've (once again) made some entirely false claims that need to be corrected. I won't allow you to continue to lie about me and say things that are not true.
I have never paid anyone to rush a show for me. EVER. However, I did offer to buy someone's ticket to the show if they sat on the rush line for me one morning. I see no problem with treating someone to the show if they're going to sit out all morning and wait. I made that offer because I had to work that day and couldn't go myself.
Secondly, I saw someone's Broadway debut last night and bought a ticket "just like everyone else" as well.
Finally, I didn't "drop everything" to go see Julie Reiber's final performance. I live 20 minutes away from the city. It was a matter of seeing the status update, purchasing tickets, and going. It was a weeknight, and I was sitting at home grading papers. I did not break or cancel any plans. Was it last minute? Yes, but it did not involve me re-arranging anything. Julie posted it in her status because she obviously wanted people to come. If she didn't want people there, she would not have posted a status update telling people to "come on down."
From what I heard from her at the stage door she's going on again tonight. Yes, one of the Booth Theater ushers confirmed this to me. She is on tonight.
I hate to continue to harp on the issue of rush, but I do want to correct something - I don't know who said people were lined up by 4 pm the day before or why people are continuing to cite it now because it was said somewhere in this thread that was not true. The earliest people there for this show's rush were around 11 pm; there is a group of Altarholics that have been rushing the show since Kyle Dean Massey took over for Gabe and they are apparently into overnight rushing. Not that I am defending it, but the whole thing has less to do with next to normal and Meghann Fahy and more the antics of an entirely different "fandom."
I'm glad to hear Meghann was so great, hopefully she will be on another time where I can catch her as Natalie! Updated On: 6/26/09 at 10:32 AM
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

obsessedjb - pardon me if I got the time wrong, but point being no one was there at 4 pm and the same group of Altarholics that rushes the show often were at or near the front of the line - what I was told by friends there who have rushed behind them before anyway.
As someone in the line who was there..umm early...I feel like this is off-base ..but the whole thing has less to do with next to normal and Meghann Fahy and more the antics of an entirely different "fandom." and I haven't even seen Altar Boyz

tickets didn't go on sale til like 3 weeks before the show opened. so DEF not winter.
^ Technically, yes they could have been. They went on sale March 2, which *is* before the start of Spring. So yes, it could well have ben booked in the winter.

I saw her last night and thought she was fantastic! To be honest when I heard she was going on I was mildly disappointed but she really held her own and had great chemistry with the cast.
