This show sells their last row of the rear mezzanine seats for 36.50. I sat there on Sunday and loved it! The theatre is small and the set is high so sitting in the last row actually works really well and I still felt close to the action. Plus I wasn't looking up the whole time. It is $10.00 more than rush but I think it's worth it considering you don't have to wait on line for hours and you can plan ahead.
Oh my God, I love it, the show is about crazy people therefore crazy people will camp out to watch it. How in the world can someone argue with that logic? Genius!
Good for Meghann, next time she is on you can find me at midnight outside the Booth, I'll be the one with the bottle of wine.
I'm fairly certain some of the group that was lined up overnight before Aaron's hiatus brought a doobie because I smelled something as I walked past the theatre on my way home.
Liverpool, would you be offended if I said that I think of you as The Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons.
WORST. POST. EVER.
"the rush is designed for people who don't have enough money to buy a full priced ticket, so instead of giving their money, they give time."
I understand this show is touching many hearts, but sorry, still think this is ridiculous for someone to start waiting the day before for a show happening at night the next day.
My time is worth more, so I'd rather buy the ticket using the discount.
I just think its so unfair that the same people keep rushing over and over again. They are ruining it for people who haven't seen the show, cannot afford a full price ticket, and do not live in new york.
I know I keep repeating the same thing, but it's so frustrating. A lotto would be amazing.
PS. I am glad to hear good things about Meghann.

I know GADS of people that don't live in NY and still manage to do Rush.
Yes, a rush where you can get there 8-10 AM.
Not in the early hours of the morning. I live in NJ, and I cannot make it there at ungodly hours of the morning. Therefore, I get shut out of the rush.

I think once a month is a little much, maybe every 2 weeks.
definitely agree with once a month, or even two weeks.
great to hear meghann was good!
But, LJAY, folks aren't lining up at 4am everyday. This was an oddity because of Meghann.
There are gads of things I can't do in NY because I don't live there or can't get there at a moments notice. Part of life.
People do start lining up at 5am for regular performances.
But I do understand your point. It's not the end of the world.
I just think it's pretty ridiculous what these people are doing, but whatever, more power to them.
I'll go ahead and buy my discount ticket, not wait in line forever, and still see the same show.
I myself have lined up at 6am a couple times... and if it gets any crazier than that, let there be lotto, then!
Even though I'm not lucky (AT ALL), sleeping over is a bit too much!
Lets see how the line goes for the next days... I have a feeling that the earlier ir gets, the earlier people start coming!
Ok, I'm home now, in front of a real keyboard and can post some more detailed thoughts.
First of all, for those who like understudy boards:
Secondly, I love seeing this sign in the Booth Theatre box office window:
So apparently the reason there was not a ticket to be had this evening was because a very large law firm bought up most of the house. This was one of their social outings. I was talking to a couple seated next to me who was there with the group. They were very excited to be at the show. However, I thought it was going to be a rough show when the cell phone announcement was made and at least 80% of the orchestra pulled out phones and started turning them off. The LCD lights were everywhere.
But, on to the show.
Meghann Fahy made her Broadway debut this evening, and she was wonderful. Easily the best of the four understudies. She has a beautiful voice, that's a little less edgy than Jenn's, but she sang the score so well. Her vocal highlight this evening was Superboy, which she nailed. Her acting is very similar to Jenn's, which is a good thing. She has some lines she delivers a little differently. I would say that her Natalie is a little more reserved than Jenn's. Meghann's Natalie holds more inside, then let's out in "fits and starts" to quote the show. She had great chemistry with the cast, which was a very pleasant surprise. She and Adam worked well together, though of course they don't have the chemistry that Jenn and Adam have, who are just so natural together on stage. She did flub a few lines, but covered them well enough that I don't think people who hadn't seen the show before would have any idea (except, perhaps, for the finale, where she started in with "day after day..." waaaay too early). Nevertheless, a great Broadway debut for a young actress, which I'm happy to have seen.
The rest of the cast is as good as they always are. Alice continues to amaze me every time I see her. I'm constantly discovering nuances in her performance, and she is constantly adding little things to her performance. She's still being very timid during I Dreamed a Dance (which, admittedly, is my least favorite moment in the show, because I think it's the one place the show drags). The timidity works VERY well, though, and I like it. Bobby continues to be amazing and is every bit Alice's equal at this point. His work is truly remarkable, and it's a performance I think is, at this point, pretty brilliant. Adam and Louis are still fantastic. Kyle Dean looks much more age appropriate opposite an older Diana (the other time I saw him was opposite Jessica Phillips) and from farther back. His performance is fine. He's no Aaron, but he does a good job.
One random tidbit....some of Meghann's costumes are different from Jenn's, which is no big deal, just interesting. I actually liked some of Meghann's outfits (particularly the shirt she wears at the beginning of act 2) better.
Overall, great show tonight, and a wonderful debut for the fabulous Meghann Fahy. The lawyers and their wives all loved it (and were very into it all night) and enthusiastically joined in the ovation at the curtain call.
One last note, I was behind what I assumed to be Meghann's family this evening, and they seemed very proud of her and were quite emotional during the curtain call. It was nice to see them so excited for Meghann, who really shined tonight.
ljay, I do not live in NY and I've managed to get rush tickets for this show -- and many others, many times. It can be done. It just takes planning.
To not get there early enough simply means it's not worth it to you. Don't complain because other people think it's worth it.
Thanks for the review! I'm so glad that she had a wonderful debut! Hopefully she will get more opportunities to play Natalie and grow more! Bravo to Meghann!
"ljay, I do not live in NY and I've managed to get rush tickets for this show "
- As have I, when you could still get there at 8am and get a ticket.
"To not get there early enough simply means it's not worth it to you. Don't complain because other people think it's worth it"
- Maybe you haven't read the rest of the thread. Most people are frustrated with this rush.
If I want a ticket, I always get there far earlier than 8AM. That includes my rushing experience at next to normal.
Can we argue about rush in another thread?
Thanks for the review AdamGreer!
I'm glad to hear that she is good! I'm looking forward to seeing her now!
=)
