I've read a really nice review, saying that she did brilliant, it was not on this forum though.

i saw it and she was awful cracked in almost every song and her acting skills, ack! plus she looks much older than the rest of the cast and her thighs make a mockery of the fact that she is supposed to be a heroin addict. if someone wrote a good review of her performance i acan only assume it was jason x or his spice girl cronies.

Did anyone else notice that in Jason x's photo of Mel B her left thigh is airbrushed half off and it looks like she has no crotch. That's some bad photoshoping :P

I went to the show last night, and I have to say she wasn't really THAT BAD! She is a bit bigger than dominique, krystal, or karmine, but she can TOTALLY pull of the look of mimi. Her voice did crack a bit in all of her songs, but i think it is because she is to concerned with how she sounds, rather than just having fun with the songs. You can tell that she is still uncomfortable on the stage, especially on the bar, but that will get better with time and practice. I think that she did an amazing job, and that she is amazingly georgous. The one thing that I think she could use to improve most is to work on her american accent, and speak up. You'd think that she knew how to be loud, but in fact, she spoke alot of her lines softly. I think this too has to do with the fact that she is concentrating too much on HOW she sounds and acts instead of just going with it. She did do a great job, and I greatly enjoyed it. **clapsandwhistles**

Well, if you wanna talk women with cracky voices who could WORK that bar, then you gotta say Daphne Rocks, you should excuse the expression.

A damaged voice can fit Mimi, in my opinion. I'm surprised they didn't just say Mimi was once a foreign exchange student like when Olivia Newton John transferred into Rydell High. Then Mimi fell in with the wrong crowd.

I find it hard to believe she looked "old" in comparison to some of the cast, particularly, the Maureen's and Joanne's that have been there since the obc left long ago.

Localonecrew, this is SO predictable comming from you. You had been acting as if Melanie actually stepped on your TITS ever since she joined the cast of Rent.

If you NEVER wanted to see Melanie B in Broadway that is another thing, but saying "if someone wrote a good review of her performance i acan only assume it was jason x or his spice girl cronies" just proves your IGNORANCE and being close minded in general. People NOT related to the Spice Girls at all, even some old posters of these forums, say that she did surprisingly well.

As for the comment on her looking old, OPEN your eyes finally. Here is the picture.

Oh believe newyorkuniq, I don't waste my time photoshoping pictures. Mel B's pictures do not even need to be airbrushed anyway Oh Dear.

I'm pretty confident that there is a scarf or some material hanging from her shorts and that her leg isn't cut off...

Of course you say it's a fair review when it agrees with your own opinion. Are all reviews that differ from your opinion unfair, or just the ones about Mel B???? Just curious......

There is NOTHING wrong with having different opinions at all. But seriously how can a nonbiased person, who respects opinions of others say "if someone wrote a good review of her performance i acan only assume it was jason x or his spice girl cronies."?

I understand Pop stars are not welcomed by the Broadway fans, but doesn't that sound really ignorant to you?

If it doesn't. No further comments then.

that picture was taken after she flew in her personal makeup artist and her face worked on for over 45 minutes. when you see her in person or in her normal stage makeup she looks way too old for the part.

I'm definitely not on the Mel B bandwagon until I see Rent next Sunday, but I found this exerp and if it's true, you've gotta at least give props to Scary for that. It may have been a publicity stunt, but I'm a whore for cheap theatre seats, no matter the reason. re: re: re: re: !

Aaah! So if Mel B wasn't already super high on my list of people I like ... she just went up. Everyone who didn't win lotto got $20 Orch seats (she footed the rest of the cost) So yeah, my friend got Row E (and i subsequently switched tickets with her, love you Meghan)

localonecrew- Do you get off on this? Bye the way, did you happen to catch the name of her makeup artist??

Thanks for this review.
I think it's sensible to say that she will improve until September, don't you think so? She has (and should be given) some time to get used to it.
I guess she, even the loud and scary Mel B, can feel some pressure on her, performing in RENT, Broadyway, N.Y. (considering I myself would NEVER even step on a stage :) )

Just a shame I won't see her on stage myself!

Up until this very thread, I never would have guessed that Localone is a female but now, it's obvious. I suggest more B'way actors get makeup and hair people, pronto. Sure would make some of the photo-op's much more pleasing to the eye.

I got a call from a friend who was at the show saying that she cracked on practically every note, and Jeremy Kushnier (Roger) had to change his style of singing and sing flat just so they could blend better. Doesn't sound very promising. And yes, that picture WAS taken a while back. Currently, she looks about 50 in that costume.

Thats not true cause she didnt crack on practically every note because I've seen the show myself on the first night. Plus her voice didnt cure completely from Friday. She doesnt look 50 at all and isnt this soo predictable, your probably a hater anyway.
