Just to let everyone know- There was a posting yesterday for Ariel and Erik sent out to Agents to submit their talent. It seems like they are still up for grabs.

#2re: Mermaid casting
Posted: 1/3/07 at 10:16pmI don't think it's cutting it that close. Plus, they could be looking for covers and not the actual roles.

Posted: 1/3/07 at 10:19pmFunny, some offfers for the covers have "said" to been sent out and the parts are not cast????

Posted: 1/3/07 at 10:28pmNo this is not for the covers. The Breakdowns would list that. There are people who would not be interested in covering so the agents need to know. Also the breakdown would state what ensemble or swing position that the role would perform first, and then list thtat it would need to be able to cover the specific lead. This was just for the two leads.

Posted: 1/3/07 at 10:31pmI guess Keri and Cheyenne fell off their wheelies at the audition.

Posted: 1/3/07 at 10:39pmI'm still not sure how they're going to pull this off.. it'll be interesting

There are so many talented actors and actrsses out there but the casting procedure includes too many people and too many ($$)factors theses days.
I have heard about so many wonderful people who have been excluded for Mermaid for whatever reasons.
I mean Gavin Creel was not right to do Poppins here and then he got cast in the London production.
I'm sure Gavin Lee is great , but really the politics are just outlandish.

Kerry too old? Really? She looks so young to me, and I almost always associate her with disney princesses. I have to admit, I was looking foward to seeing her in this role.
(I'm not discrediting your comment, I'm just surprised)

KB looks too old. i hope they find someone whos young and unknown and ridiculously talented. i think a disney show could front it.

The girl from Lestat's name is Allison Fischer, and now that you mention it I would love to see her in this. She was probably handed one of the two halfway decent songs in Lestat and it was always a highlight in the second act, for those who stayed for the second act
. To answer your question, she's probably just in school right now..
I wish I "Knew" someone. Neverandy, will you get me contacts? We can be BFFs.

Posted: 1/4/07 at 5:08pmOk, I am SOOOO out of the loop. Has any other casting been named for the show?

Posted: 1/4/07 at 5:16pmNothing has been announced. I know that they were doing final Triton auditions the week before Christmas. They also were posting for a Flounder around that time, so assume that they are finsihing that up right now. I would imagine that they are going to be seeing people for Ariel and Erik next week. I have had friends who have been seen for this as far back as August so this doesn't mean that they are just starting now. I think they are gearing up for the final auditions and are trying again to see some more talent in addition to who they have on file.

Posted: 1/4/07 at 6:47pmNeverandy, would you be at liberty to mention some of the types there were looking for in the calls. For one, is Flouder going to be played by a child? What age ranges are they looking at?

We covered this a few weeks ago. I think I posted exactly what they put in the breakdown. Anyway, Flounder is going to be a child.
I will go back and re-read the breakdown for ariel and erik and post.

OK here is the info from the notice
They are auditioning this week and next in Chicago, Toronto, and New York. The first rehearsal is in May and the show is opening in July in Denver, with an eye towards an early Fall B'way premier.
They are seeking actors of all cultural backgrounds for the roles.
Typical description for Ariel-"Mermaid on the verege of Maturity", vocal type-"flawless Crystal clear belt to E"
For Erik they want someone with "Princely charm...that leaves the girls breathless" vocal type "controlled lyrical tenor or baritenor. Gorgeous soaring sound to A"
I didn;t want to quote word for word because I don't want to get in trouble and lose my privelege of getting these things. They are invaluableto say the least!
