Michael Riedel's NY Post Column Cut To Once A Week

https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Michael-Riedel-Column-Cut-to-Once-a-Week-at-NY-Post-Daily-News-Cuts-Arts-20150929 I hadn't realized it was twice a week. I guess many in the theatre industry are feeling a sense of shadenfreude. Well, he'll still have Theatre Talk also. Just once, I'd like to see Susan Haskins dominate the conversation like he normally does. Where is Forbidden Broadway when you need it?

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Now he has to do twice the pot stirring in half the time.

According to the article he's getting a whole page now, so I guess that means we'll get a week's worth in a day.

What's bad about that is if they decide to cut back any "arts" coverage because of that, much rather they simply have replaced him with another journalist.

I've been reading the print edition of the NY Post for over 40 years. It's a good read going home on the train. I will miss Michael Riedel's two weekly columns, but, I get it, times have changed. I always enjoyed reading the arts and society columns in the newspapers. I enjoyed reading columns by Earl Wilson, Ed Sullivan, and Suzy Knickerbocker. I'm glad Cindy Adams is still writing her column. I know I'm hanging on to the past, but newspapers were so good back then.

That's once too many. He's a total weasel with no journalistic talent at all.

If the Post is trying to cut out all his mis-information and outright fabrications, they're halfway there...

Sorry to hear of this cutback.

We need more of Michael Riedel's columns ---- not less.

He refuses to bow and scrape before all the stuff that the fawning agenda crowd shovels down our throats on a daily basis, which is no doubt why he is so reviled. But I say bravo to Michael Riedel for having the courage to tell it like it is.

What agenda would that be?

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes Michael Riedel tick. You seem to be projecting your own agenda onto him in a manner that would undoubtedly amuse him.

If Riedel has ever "told it like it is," it was undoubtedly by accident.

Honey, The NY Post is owned by Rupert Murdock, who also owns Fox News. Mis-information and outright fabrications are his bread and butter.

It's actually sort of an exaggeration to say he was previously doing 2 columns a week. On his good weeks he did 2 columns, but sometimes just one or none at all. So it won't be much different.

I'm sure he'll blame Lin-Manuel Miranda for the whole thing in his next column and talk about all the shows that are rumored to transfer to Broadway and take the Tony from HAMILTON.

He's always been a weasel, but I remember the time he used to actually break some casting news or a show's London/off-Broadway transfer. Lately it seems like he just makes up something he can spin as anti-HAMILTON, writes fake stories reporting on a show's supposed success (which I assume gets him supplemental income, I mean, his fake reporting on BULLETS OVER BROADWAY should have ended his career), or reports on something everyone else on the board has talked about to death.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
