What movies do you think would make a great musical?

The Princess Diaries
Parent Trap (it would be difficult, but I think it would be entertaining)
Raising Helen (maybe...)

I think that all 3 movies you listed would make HORRIBLE musicals

I have an idea, how about some ORIGINAL musicals!!!! I am getting a little bored with this trend of making movies into musicals, I want ORIGINAL!

Blades of Glory.

I think making movies into musicals is a lame idea and I want it to end NOW.

"Parent Trap" would be difficult, but probably good.
"Raising Helen" would bomb.
"Princess Diaries" would be good.
"Poseidon" would be very entertaining.

Poseidon would be impossible. It had no plot and depended entirely on special effects. Just what about it would be appropriate for a song?

BIG FISH.

It must happen before the "movies to stage" trend ends...I think it could be a remarkable theatrical experience with an imaginative director and the proper composer.

^Ohhhh, I actually sort of like the idea of making Big Fish into a musical. I loved that movie.

I have an idea, how about some ORIGINAL musicals!!!! I am getting a little bored with this trend of making movies into musicals, I want ORIGINAL!

But I completely agree with spacedog, let's get some more original shows back on Broadway.

I hate to break it to you all, but there RARELY are truly original musicals. Almost every musical, new or old, has been adapted from a previous work, whether it be a film, novel, biography, or straight play.

I was scanning my row of DVDs I have and "Raise Your Voice" caught my eye. But I can't say I'm a huge fan of Hilary Duff. She's okay, but not Broadway material.

School of Rock is a pretty good idea. The only reason I like that movie is because Adam Pascal is in it.

THE GOLDEN GIRLS

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
--Aristotle
