I got student rush tix for the show. I got first row, center section, which I thought were great seats until I showed up at the theater. I was literally nose level with the stage, which meant I missed a lot of the footwork, and had a good chance at getting the dancer's sweat on my face.

Anyhow, I loved the production, the dancing was beautiful and energetic, the music was awesome, an overall great show. The two leads, Eddie and Brenda were understudies, as well as the piano player (Wade Robeson), not Michael Cavanagh. I was disappointed because I had heard such great things about Michael C., but Wade Robeson was awesome, and had great rapport with his band members as well as the dancers on stage. Ashley Tuttle, the real reason I was at Movin' Out, was breathtaking. I had grown up seeing photos of her in ABT, so seeing her on stage was amazing. No wonder Baryshnikov hand picked her to be in ABT when she was 16 yrs old!

On a weird but funny note, Tony (Lawrence Rabson) was dancing with Brenda in "Shameless", and it was such a beautiful dance, as they were "falling back into love", except I was completely distracted because Tony's zipper on his pants was wide open. It completely ruined it for me. I think at one point, Brenda noticed because she looked like she was trying to suppress laughter, but he didn't try to zip it up or anything. Definitely one of those things that can only happen in live theater with lots of costume changes!

I think that next time, for Movin' Out, i'd like to sit farther away so I can appreciate the choreography more. I'm more of a dance person, so I thought the dancing was brilliant! The cast works so hard, I don't know how they do that every night...anyways, I enjoyed it!

On a different note: Why are there so many understudies? I walked by the theater on a Saturday night a few weekends ago, and all four main leads were understudies. Is this a fluke? or does this happen on a regular basis?

Well, I know for the national tour, they have two different sets of leads that change out every other night. It's here in Nashville right now, and its a phenominal production.

in the program, there are two sets of cast members listed, the cast list changes for wednesday and saturday matinees (if I remember correctly).

I saw it on a Tuesday night, and I was wondering why there were so many understudies, even though it was just a Tuesday night, not when an alternate cast was performing.

Anyways, I thought it was a fabulous, innovative show...it's great to see ballet/modern dance on Broadway!

I believe they unofficially started rotating some of the understudies in on Tuesday nights as well, at least for some of the characters. I've found that with Movin' Out, you can't completely count on seeing specific performers, because they are out a lot. Which is understandable in such a physically demanding show, and probably encouraged so that they don't injure themselves or over-do it.

As for Preston, I prefer him to Cavanaugh!

Steph...I'm totally with you. Like Wade Robeson the choreographer? From the Britney and NSYNC videos? Confused.

It's Wade Preston, not Wade Robeson. Though that would be hot.

I just saw this for the first time the other day. I had avoided seeing it for over two years now because I'm not the biggest Billy Joel fan and I was sick of jukebox musicals. What nobody told me though, was this wasn't a jukebox musical. It was a ballet. And I thought it was beautiful! I sat in the front row as well and while it was a strain on the neck at times, I thought it was completely worth it.

I'm glad to hear people are enjoying this show! I'm still boggled by those who called it "boring" and say it does not deserve to be on Broadway. Jarico and I saw the tryout in Chicago and went in with low expectations, but went out absolutely thrilled with the show. I really want to see it again.

I saw Wade Preston-I thought he was great....we sat in the first row of the mezzanine--perfect view of the dancers as well as the band.

Glad you liked the show mint (you too Matt). I saw it last month and thought it was excellent. I stayed away for the same reasons Matt_G did. But the production was beautiful and would go back in a heartbeat.

I saw it a few weeks ago and I loved it! I also found out on Monday that my chours is seeing it for our New York trip in May. How are the dancers in the afternoon?

Fabulous. Went on a Sunday matinee. I had about five pieces of paper with who was out, and who would be dancing instead, all of them are so talented.

Steph, hehe. Yeah, there was definitely some NSYNC fandom going on with me too - why I recognized the name:) No worries.

I went to the Sunday matinee also and was lucky (I guess) to only have 2 people out. But everyone on stage was so great I wouldn't complain one bit.
