Damn Yankees unless the Yankees become the incredibly successful team they once or unless there's an overhaul of the libretto with more infusion of magic in the plot. And then there's the sexism of Lola.
The Pajama Game- a book that almost makes Damn Yankees look unconventional. The score is superior to Damn Yankees, but how does one relate to a 71/2 cent raise. It's more than a little dated in its relationships between Sid and Babe.
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas-- it was fun and innocent in its time. But what do you with The Aggie number and those lyrics...and the satire seems tame by today's standards.
Milk and Honey--it's a truly underrated score but the Borsch Belt humor of the widows is not very funny and the championing of Israel, well, it's a little difficult to imagine right now. As one of the better songs in the show declares...There's No Reason in the World.
Silk Stockings- despite some nice color Porter numbers, the book isn't particularly witty and those lovable Russian communist characters!!! Amazing that this was successful in its day. See "Ninotchika" instead.
The CSC did such a good job with "I Can Get It For You Wholesale"...they should look into What Makes Sammy Run, Raisin and Angel...and, perhaps, "Minnie's Boys" and "Grind"
