Matthew Morrison trended worldwide on Twitter today. NBC must be trilled!
I love that they made him a HANDSOME grinch. Delicious.

The new sets looked creative in the parade sneak peek
I love the sets too. Just like the B'way and MSG incarnations, the set is very colorful and Seussian in spirit.

He was trending because of how awful he looked.

He looked bad. Sounded nothing like the character. And the sets looked like a Non-Eq bus and truck.

How exactly is the character supposed to sound? I have seen most of jim carreys movies and he sounded mostly the same as the grinch as normal except for a growl.

To me he sounded like himself in a green bodysuit.
Usually the Grinch has a deep voice.
But I’ll hold out until I watch the full thing.

MOOD. Europe in general perceives, therefore treats, artists of all kinds like the trained professionals they are.

Same here. Grew up watching the cartoon. Still tuning in. Just realized that Denis O'Hare is in it and I love him.

Did you see the new pictures BroadwayWorld released? I think the sets and lights look cool but the costumes are really bothering me. Why does the Grinch need clothes? Why does the Santa jacket look like it was made for a woman with a plunging neckline? Why do The Who’s look like a preschooler chose the color palette. Like I’m absolutely watching but the costumes seem so misguided.

Exactly. The costumes make William Ivey Long's design for Seussical look like a masterpiece.

Fab TV has a bunch of cast/crew interviews and this clip of the first scene.

Matthew Morrison is obviously having a ball but I don’t know weather to be scared or to laugh.

I thought the clips looked exciting. I still think the Broadway costumes were miles better but Morrison seems more Grinchy than I was expecting
Based on the clips, this does not seem to be a great role for Morrison (even though he’s a talented performer). Perhaps within the context of the entire show, the role will seem like a better fit.

Does Matthew Morrison have duel citizenship in the UK or something? This is not even an "odd casting choice", this is an "absolutely not casting decision". What's the deal with this cast though? Anyone know why things seem disjointed? It sounded like NBC stopped doing their live musicals a while ago and this sudden announcement of a television musical seems just strange. It doesn't seem to be live musical, I'm guessing it is pre-recorded. I wish they would do pre-recorded musicals again haha! I'd love to see this decade's version of the Brandy & Whitney Cinderella. Now that, that s*** slaps.
I'm wondering if it has to do with Universal being the producers behind the multiple Grinch films. I know that they are not tied to the musical (at least what I can tell), but I wonder if NBC had always thought about the Grinch, and in a time where not a whole lot is going on in the way of new television offereings, they "threw together" this Grinch with 3 main American actors for pull, but then did everything else in the UK because it was cheaper, and the legals when it come to Covid/unions etc. wasn't too bad.
Do I wish that teh JLo "Bye Bye Birdie" would come back, yes. I wonder if this well known title will spark anything back to live musicals, or even specials of musicals?
I assumed it would be live, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. That’s a bit disappointing, but it’s understandable and I’ll still tune in. For anyone who has seen the stage version, what’s with the older and younger versions of Max the dog? Is the older one, played by Denis O’Hare, narrating?

^ I assumed it would be live too. And you are correct
Matthew Morrison is extremely talented, but based on that clip, he is so completely wrong for this role and he looks so ridiculous in that makeup that this could turn out to be a real embarrassment. Why was he cast? Despite being known for Glee and a couple Broadway shows, he's not a big enough "star" to get people to tune in just to see him. You can't even tell that it's Matthew Morrison anyway. Why not hire someone more appropriate for the role?
BTW Denis O'Hare is a fantastic actor, but watching him crawl around on all fours in a dog costume was just depressing.
Yes, the musical is narrated by Old Max, originally played on Broadway by John Cullum, looking back at one particular Christmas in his past. It allows Max to voice the narrator of the book and also sing “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”

FabTv posted another clip and I rewatched the previous ones. The more I think about it, the more I think it will be a very successful production. As I’ve said like 3 times the costumes irk me but the lighting/sets/camerawork/acting seem like they’re going to work well
