Speaking for thisismyshow (whether he/she appreciates it or not)..."I take that back, I take that back...Forgive me, oh please, I'm sorry. I promise I won't say anything like that again. I know, I know! I said something stupid! I'm sooorrryyy!!!" LOL! I'm real sensitive. Go easy on me,please, when I say something stupid, because I might not be aware of just how stupid my mistake was!

The 'Newsies' creative team really beat the odds. 1. They came in the wake of Disney misfires like 'Tarzan' and 'The Little Mermaid.' 2. This version had never been tried out elsewhere (or even onstage). 3. They had only about a dozen previews, during which they made some cuts in songs and jokes, and I've been told that there's still more tinkering they want to do.
All told, 'Newsies' is far better than it had any right to be.
As the observation: 'Given that almost every review pointed out the opening [with 'Santa Fe'] as one of the show's issues ...'
'Almost every review'? That's kinda hyperbolic.
* David Rooney, the New York Times
* Joe Dziemianowicz, the N.Y. Daily News
* Frank Scheck, the New York Post
* Matt Windman, TheaterMania
* Michael Sommers, Variety
* Erik Haagensen, BackStage
* Roma Torre, NY1 Onstage
None of those 7 reviewers mentioned the opening being an issue at all.
I counted 3 that did: Bob Rendell, Talkin' Broadway; Thom Geist, Entertainment Weekly, and Peter Filichia, Newark Star-Ledger. That's 3 out of 10; hardly 'almost every review.'

@starcarolina, hey do yourself a favor and dont speak for me, a.k.a piss off
This thread seems very... Angry.
According to today's NYTimes on line, the Nederlander Theatre Group and the Jujamacyn Theatre Group are both competing for NEWSIES to occupy one of their theaters. In other words, it is apparently not a sure thing that NEWSIES will play the Nederlander Theatre on W. 41st Street. So, we will have to wait and see.
'Ghost seems to be a joke..so thats a bust'
Massofmen do you live on a different planet to the rest of the world? where is the show a joke? It opened to mixed to positive reviews in the UK and the show is a HUGE seller
I think the opening is great. It gives us a picture of the inner Jack. alone at night on the rooftop. An artist, a person who cares for the underdog esp in the way he helps out his buddy Cruchie up on the roof to join him. It persents Jack as an introvert,introspective and a dreamer. "For a dreamer night's the only time of day (old Santa Fe lyrics.) Jack also invites Cruchie to join him when he take the train to Santa Fe. For the present, they dream together.
One image that remains in my head is tha ne SF lyrics athat the moppn is old and gray in NY but in SF the moon is so big and yella' it turns nightime into day.
I went to see newsies guarded but I hope to get to see it again.
Above all I hope they do a cast recording from the Papermill. And any suggestions for a person to take over for Jeremy? He is a bit old for the part and B&C may prevent him from starring.

If not the Nederlander, than maybe the Neil Simon??? Of course if Follies extends and Evita takes the Simon then nevermind. Other possible theaters: Broadhurst, Barrymore, Belasco, or the Schoenfeld if Bonnie & Cylde bombs.
the last four theatres are Shubert theatre, Disney have alwayd played Nederlander houses, New Amsterdam besides.
I thought Evita was going into the Marquis no matter what.
Jesus Christ Superstar was being lined up for the Neil Simon.
EVITA Is not definitely going into the Marquis.
Evita has the Marquis, but according to a rumor, Follies wants to extend til June so Evita may move, but nothing official or confirmed yet.
Is the Brooks Atkinson taken? If the Jujamcyns end up getting the show, that could be a decent house for this show.

The Brooks Atkinson is a Nederlander house.
And unless they expect LYSISTRATA JONES not to run, I don't think any Jujamcyn theatres would be available for the show.

Is Newsies a big show? From the pictures and videos it looks like a medium sized show so The Nederlander would be ideal. I think Evita will go into The Neil Simon and Follies extends.
I think it would actually be smart for EVITA to take the Neil Simon...It's poised to become a hot sell when it opens (A popular show by ALW, which hasn't been revived in 30 Years, and starring Ricky Martin...do the math) and could pull a BOOK OF MORMON by consistently selling out a smaller house.

ricky martin is still culturally relevant?
The set of NEWSIES looked rather large and high.
I think the Neederlander is the best bet, that block is getting better and kid friendly, housing the stage and back door of MARY POPPINS and the hot dog joint down the block. The rent is probably cheaper and since their are no stars in NEWSIES they can keep the nut down.
EVITA should take the Palace, one (or two) Queens replacing the three that are now residing.
From Harvey on FB:
2 weeks more in NJ, buy tkts now, there are no guarentees!
That means nothing >_> he just wants to keep selling tickets.
He ain't no fool.
I'm curious how Jordan is going to be able to do to shows at home time Newsies/B&C and help promote "Joyful Noise" or are they leaving it all up to Dolly and Queen Latifah? I figured they'd be pushing him around as the new it boy since the advertisements are saying "Introducing Jeremy Jordan".

According to this article, no plans for Newsies to come to Broadway, just high hopes and according this source, they want to wait for Jeremy Jordan.
massofmen seems to turned into assofmen.

Haha, very funny :)
Not sure on the transfer but Papermill pulled a bit of a Pulitzer, the tix that were $25 in the orchestra are now coming up as $80-$96 depending on the day. Guess they want to rake in the dough
