a double nomination? are you insane? do you know how many revivals are coming in this year? 13...13 revivals with leading men in them. What happend to the intelligence of this board? or maybe I am just getting smarter..sweet GOd. CAlm down!
"What does Jeremy want to do...bottom line."
Not really, he is under contract to B&C, if it runs and his contract is for a year, that's pretty much it. He hardly has any power to get ins and outs at this point. I think NEWSIES might play at least one more engagement to work on it and keep their boys employed till the Spring. The production at Papermill is frozen and the director and star are already working on something new.
"What does Jeremy want to do...bottom line."
Remove the last word and the thought is about 1000 times more interesting.
You had to go there.
Most people on this board have no idea how a contract works.

@massofmen you do realize neither b&c or newsies are revivals right.................
So someone on the boards scooped Reidel, nice job.

I'd really like to see this in the spring. We need good new musicals this season.
Interestingly enough, despite being in New Jersey and not New York, this is stirring up a lot of buzz. I have heard a lot of people who usually aren't in the loop with new theatre talking about it lately.
Totally gonna stir the pot here but did anyone find Riedel's comment "all his cynicism melted away at the sight of a bunch of cute newspaper-delivery boys" kinda creepy?
haha...I kid...kinda...a little...not really
Didn't think this would rush to Broadway so soon. Expected it to come Fall 2012. Sucks that the Nederlander will be dark until March(nearly a year).
^ If it's ready I don't see the harm. It seems like they just need to make a few changes.

Riedel doesn't seem to realize Christopher Gattelli did the choreography, which did seem odd to me as one of Calhoun's strengths is his choreography. Speaking of, I didn't realize Calhoun did directing and choreography for Bonnie and Clyde--would that make any difference in which show Jordan might do? (probably not, but at least the director obviously knows there could be a conflict of interest).
*edit* It seems to have been corrected...

k. a.) I said possibility because he's a capable actor leading two musicals and b.) you just told me to calm down after bitching me out for mentioning said possibility. Pathetic.

thisismyshow..you do realize that leading men categories for tony awards are for either Revival performances or new musicals right? lemme try again..harry connick junior and jeremy jordan will be in the same category..as well as daddy warbucks, rooster, che, the guy from Ghost, bobby canivale from Funny girl, Any of the guys from YANK if it comes in plus ONCE, AND EVERY OTHER MUSICAL OPENING THIS SEASON...
you do realize that high school educations help considerably when understanding basic logic.
Really..what happened to this board? seems like every year a new crop of Wunderkids from some performing arts highschool find out how a keyboard works and post opinions concerning things they know nothing about...unreal

hey little reggie when you are on here for more than 12 months then maybe your opinion might hold water.
until then go back to P.E and learn how to play kick ball and leave the grown up talk to the adults.

@massofmen: I think Reggie was just pointing out the theoretical possibility, however slim, of someone scoring a double nomination, which is a very interesting thought. Is it going to happen? No. But still something cool to think about. I don't know why we have to assume that Reggie is some uneducated preschooler.

massofmen - Where are you geting 13 revivals from? I counted 6: Follies, Godspell, On a Clear Day, Porgy and Bess, Evita, Funny Girl. What are the other 7?
Funny Girl is next season.
Just from that thread;
Burstein, Raines, Parrish, Connick, Lewis, Martin, it's gonna be a hot year for leading men in musicals.
Jordan will be lucky if he slips in once.
Yah! I've been telling people that this material was great for 19 years. Any score with "King of New York", "Carrying the Banner", and "Santa Fe" is a show I'll be there for. Congrats to all the cast (Jeremy Jordan and Andrew Keenan-Bolger) and creative team for making such a hit a Paper Mill....and maybe now Broadway.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Follies petitions Raines & Burstein for supporting actor
They may try to petition Burstein for featured. But there's no way they'll try to move Raines. Separating the two of them would give the production more chances at nominations and wins.

Are you honestly measuring my intelligence AND my age by how long I've been on these boards?
Very mature comeback, though. I state a possibility as BEING a possibility, (never even said it was a likelihood) and you get angry. I really wish I was as smart and sophisticated and all-knowing concerning all things theatre as you are... golly, my life would just be super.
Don't worry. I still love you Reggie.
