Let's hope that someone is able to convince Hugh Grant that he's be the perfect Henry Higgins!

I know the tour is happening in the Uk... they were auditioning for it recently. I think it's kicking off September time.
UK dates confirmed so far (according to a post on Dress Circle):
Wednesday 28 September 2005 - Saturday 5 November 2005
Palace Theatre, Manchester
Wednesday 9 November 2005 - Saturday 3 December 2005
The Hippodrome, Birmingham
Tuesday 6 December 2005 - Saturday 7 January 2006
Playhouse Theatre, Edinburgh
That was a gorgeous production and Martine McCutcheon was a stunning Eliza. Didn't care much for Jonathan Pryce. I would love to see Kelsey Grammer in the role, though.
McCutcheon was stunning; but, like Audrey Hepburn in the film, she wasn't much else. Too bad the people who mount these productions have no clue what Eliza is supposed to be. Stunning isn't it. Wendy Hiller is what she's supposed to be.

So what about Emmy (from Phantom) as Eliza. Too young? She probably couldn't play Eliza in "The Wouldn't it Be Loverly" section, but after the transformation, maybe? I can't think of no one to play Professor Higgins though.
I actually liked Martine's performance better than Audrey Hepburn. I thought she gave a more honest portrayal of Eliza. I was never a huge fan of the show until I saw Martine, then I fell in love with it.
I agree that she was better than Audrey Hepburn; but that's not saying a whole hell of a lot.

A US tour is kicking off in August, too.
As long as they get someone who actually fits the parts, unlike Ms. Hepburn, I'll be happy. Very happy.
Wonderful news!! My Fair Lady is my 2nd favorite show. I agree with the above -- Eliza doesn't need to be "stunning." All that's required is that we see her transformation. If that results in her being stunning, then fine. But she certainly doesn't need to be stunning from the get-go.

I would love to see Amy Bodner (from the revial of Oklahoma) and Brad Little (from the national tour of Phantom) play Eliza and Higgins.

I don't think Grant is...well, nasty enough to be Higgins. He seems too lightweight somehow.

First off, Grant has stage experience. Secondly, he's tired of being a film actor with all the takes and re-takes. Thirdly, I think he has more depth than his film roles might suggest.
He's the right age for Higgins and certainly LOOKS the part. I'll bet that he can sing it better than Rex Harrison or Jeremy Irons.
No, I stand by my suggestion that Hugh Grant would make an impressive Higgins.
Hugh Grant is an interesting suggestion, but I honestly think that -- regardless of his actual age -- he LOOKS too young and pretty. I'd rather see someone a little more seasoned, but still more attractive and charismatic than Jonathan Pryce do it. I'd love to see Patrick Stewart as Higgins (yes, he's older, but you could believe that a younger girl could develop a fascination for him).
How about Jude Law and Kylie Minogue? A more probable combination for Broadway producers.
^^ Don't you mean John Stamos and Cheryl Ladd?
Remember...Broadway is increasingly about has-been TV/sitcom stars!

Jude law definitely looks too young for the part
