Haha I just said almost the same thing on facebook about Eddie.
This seriously looks like it is going to be amazing.
This is great footage though. We get to see and hear Amanda (who really does not sound bad) and Samantha. So many glimpses at key songs.
There hasn't been anything seen of Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen yet, has there?

Nope, not one, Kad. I really wish they would at least give us a still of them.
I doubt they underwent some startling physical transformation that warrants a big surprise.
I find that so strange.
Either that or they're simply not done editing anything substantial with them in it. I know they're just rushing to get the film done before year's end (and with the new awards calendar, they could already be in trouble). Focusing on the sweeping music everyone knows and the sympathetic (nomination ready) characters isn't a bad thing. The transformation theory could be it too.
I'm so intrigued. What an interesting package. I love the idea of the actors setting the tempos with live accompaniment. It makes it much more natural, and I really commend them for trying something like this. And they don't sound half bad either. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Is the whole movie going to be sung through like the show is? I do hope that they do that, since I feel it will be true to the show. However, if they are, can a film audience sit through close to two hours (maybe two hours and change) of singing? After all, it's different being exposed to that in a theatre on stage than it is on film. Case and point, Evita.

Although the cost is bound to be prohibitive, this is probably the one approach that would make movie musicals work dramatically. Very impressive so far.

Winston, there is going to be minimal dialogue to break up the songs.
HeyMrMusic, what is the new awards calendar?
Eddie Redmayne- soon as he started talking in the interview segments, I thought PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BE THIRTEENTH DOCTOR?
Anybody else feeling it?

This looks incredible. Can't wait.
As said, there will be *bits* of dialogue, but nothing like what they tried to do with Phantom and Rent, taking recitative and trying to make it sound like dialogue. Also, Evita's problem wasn't that it was wall to wall music. It's problem was miscasting, lack of bite, and the fact that there is no real linear story. Evita the stage show is really a vehicle for an imaginative director and ferocious singers. Evita the film had neither.
This feature looks fantastic. And I'm surprised at how well Amanda Seyfried sounds in the little we've heard of her. And of course, what they're showing us is one of many takes of these songs that might not even make it into the final film.

I know that the Thenardier's filmed all their scenes last because of conflicts with the actors... so it could be that they collected these snippets earlier in the filming process.
That being said... this was amazing. I'm really excited for this! It could completely change how movie musicals are filmed in the future - and I think we are at a new crossroads for what can be done with it. I thought everyone sounded great. Not sure on Seyfried's trembly vibrato... but everyone else seemed to be cast really well (especially Redmayne...) Interesting that we didn't hear anything from Crowe. Should we be worried?
We've guessed a lot about orchestrations and the absence of the notorious Eighties Synth Keyboards of Doom in the film. Seeing the reinvented "Valjean's Soliloquy" suggests that, at least in this place, the crunchy electric piano "ba-ba-ba-BA, ba ba ba ba-ba-ba-BA" that drives the pounding rhythm will be entirely absent.

I'm still set on Damian Lewis playing the Doctor someday, darquegk, even if he's way out of the show's budget. Or at the very least someone over 35.
But to get back on topic - I find the lack of singing Crowe footage more notable than the lack of Thernandiers, since, as has been pointed out, the latter started filming after everyone else.
Its very early, but from what I've seen so far I think the movie has some real promise. I will hold off on calling this an Awards contender until we hear some more of the singing from Crowe and Jackman- but I think that the live aspect of filming was truly the best way to film this.
I am really praying that this is successful, as I fear another dud at the box office (Rock of Ages) would hinder other projects from moving further.
That's a decent point, Plum. However, it is of note that since the end of the Time War and the fall of Gallifrey, which ended the "closed loop" cycle of twelve regenerations and then mandatory death, Time Lords have been reincarnating younger and younger, or at least more and more youthful, with every return.

WOW that looked amazing!Amanda sounds really good and Eddie sounded great!I got the biggest goosebumps when Sam started singing "On my own" with the Orchestra....just wow.Anne's singing is heartbreaking and the close up on her face at 3:44 made me tear up a little.
I agree with Anne about going with a more raw, realistic approach to IDAD rather than sounding ~pretty~ and Broadway-ish, but some people will never understand that.."omg she's suppose to belt!!!one!1"
James Callis needs to be The Doctor at some point.
Eddie needs to be in my life/house/bed. I love the input he had about the advantages of singing live
