New Jack Kelly Standby, coming directly from Tommy Bracco's twitter, is Corey Cott, who graduated from CMU this year. New Newsie is Julian DeGuzman.

Re: #28
Posted: 7/26/12 at 6:52pmOn the official website, JP is listed in Alex's track, so JP is only temporarily in the cast?
Re: #29
Posted: 7/26/12 at 9:40pmYou know, I believe JP will eventually switch to being a swing so that Julian can take over Alex's track, but Julian may be the new swing and JP could stay in Alex's track. All I know is when Julian joins the cast, one will swing and one will be Sniper/Scab.

So Julian has joined the cast as a swing and Corey as the Jack Kelly alternate and standby, meaning JP will continue as Sniper.

Re: #31
Posted: 8/7/12 at 11:25pmCorey Cott will have his first performance as Jack Kelly (and his broadway debut) tomorrow (8/8/12)!
Re: #32
Posted: 8/7/12 at 11:48pmthey list him as an alternate, not a standby, on playbill.com. So are the having him do one or two performances a week??

Just to update this some more... Per her FB page, Capathia Jenkins will play her last performance as "Medda Larkin" on September 9.
Personally, I thought she was amazing in the role. It probably helped that the song "That's Rich" was written for her!

Yup, LaVon Fisher Wilson (of Lysistrata Jones and Chicago) is taking over.
Even though they are not leaving yet, who would be good replacements as Davey, Katherine, Crutchie, and Pulitzer down the road?
Re: #36

Biti, the Lysistrata band vocalist (read: band crazy riffer) would even be great. Or Kecia Lewis-Evans. Or NaTasha Yvette Williams.

Re: #37
Posted: 8/30/12 at 12:42amUmmmmm, I'm pretty sure LaVon never went on during Lysistrata Jones. She was Liz Mikel's understudy, and I'm pretty sure that Mikel never missed a performance. I could be wrong though.

First off, I really must correct a small but significant typo from earlier.
It previously read:
I'm a dancer, but he and Ryan Steele have such beautiful form and their pirouettes look like a "how-to," just perfect.
Well, I'm NOT a dancer. Read: not. at all. ever. never taken a dance lesson in my life. I just admire dance and dancers and for the most part I think I do a pretty decent job of spotting the good ones :)
Anyway, I'm sad that Capathia is leaving but I have to say that LaVon is amazing! I saw her about 6 years ago in Baltimore's Centerstage's production of "Once on This Island" and her vocals are wonderful. She'll be a great replacement.
Re: #39
Posted: 9/5/12 at 2:57pmApparently Ephraim Sykes has left or is leaving the show within the week. Anyone know who's replacing him?
Re: #40
Posted: 9/5/12 at 3:07pman unconfirmed rumor on All That Chat a few days ago speculated that Ron Raines would be temporarily stepping in for John Dossett when Dossett takes a leave of absence to do GIANT.
Re: #41

I think that Iain Young is joining the cast, but I don't know if he replacing Ephraim Sykes.
Also, Lewis Grosso is leaving this week. Lots of cast changes in a short period of time!

Anyone know who is replacing Lewis?
Ephraim was in the show last night (9/4). I hope he doesn't go. His dancing is absolutely beautiful and he's got such personality!

I think Ron Raines would make an excellent Pulitzer.
I hate to think of Sykes not being there. He really is excellent. It just goes to show how much every member of the company is making such a strong contribution!
Re: #44

Ephraim and Lewis are probably leaving before the end of the week since they tweeted their last SIPS. Didn't hear about Dossett leaving temporarily. Where did everyone hear that?
Side note - Corey starts to night as full time lead!
Re: #45
Posted: 9/5/12 at 8:34pmSee, it's funny because I loved Ephraim in Memphis and Rent but thought he got kind of lost in the ensemble in Newsies. He's a great dancer, but because he wasn't featured as much as the other Newsies, say Ryan Steele, the audience didn't know what he was capable of. Still delivered all of the choreography with more than precision. Just IMO.

Where are they going?
Where's everybody going?
Back to high school?
I can't imagine these chorus kids doing less than a year in their first BWay show, unless something huge like SMASH takes 'em.
Re: #48
Posted: 9/5/12 at 9:11pmFirst Broadway show? Ephraim has three or four credits on Broadway, was a lead off Broadway in Rent, and has been featured in a few dance movies. Not to mention he's an Alvin Ailey graduate. He probably has something lined up next or else he would stay. Alex Wong also had other engagements in LA for SYTYCD, ballet, etc, so it wasn't like he was leaving to go sit at home.
