He was set to do a production of Rocky Horror, if I'm not mistaken, and was attacked via radio and eventually was convinced to drop out. I think Des McAuff was the director on that one.
I really like Jim Barbour so I won't go on too much, but I will say it is ironic to be in jail for his crime, and weeks-months later to be in rehearsal having to sing lyrics like "There's a part of you, I can love; just like you your child sees good in everyone." Lyric was changed to "I can share."
Yes, he didn't work (much) for years because of it, and he has to live with the shame for the rest of his life. He's been punished and will continue to be. Let the man earn a living.
If you bothered to read our comments, they are more along the lines of he was arrested, convicted, paid his fines, did his time, and moved on. He is not a "felon". Please do your research.
I assure the foreigners which make up 99 % of the audience in that show don't know who he is. But you are wrong. The comments are more on the line off he was arrested, convicted, paid his fines, did his time, he is still creepy, and don't people mind working with him.
"Hiring a pedophile is an especially unnerving move considering the fact that a large majority of the Phantom of the Opera's fan base is made up of teenage girls. "
The most unnerving part about this entire fiasco is that the Phantom Facebook and Instagram pages were initially trying to delete comments mentioning Barbour's demeanor, even going so far as to block some of the opposing commenters.

How is that unnerving?
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
I am not saying that anything can justify what he did, because it was indisputably wrong. But in my opinion, it seems that he has served his time and paid his dues, so why shouldn't he be allowed to work? I never saw him perform, but based on that youtube audio, he has a great voice. He should be entitled to work when he is obviously qualified for the job.
To be blunt about it, I think it is foolish to see how people always need a constant reason to be outraged.. It is the driving force of life all too often today. 1. Barbour is not now, nor has he ever been, a "pedophile". People should learn to define words before throwing them around. Especially one such as that. 2. Frankly, the more outraged a Phantom fans become, the smarter the decision would tend to be.
