I keep expecting Catalano to say he was kidding... (I'm holding out hope-- seeing it at a Big D theater in a couple of hours)
I F*CKin loved it and I'm seeing it for a third time tomorrow.
Look, like any movie this isn't going to be liked by everyone. But I
A)Love the show
B)Am a total 80s freak
C)Still have the same crush on Tom Cruise I've had since TOP GUN
So I was sure I'd like it more than others. Doesn't change the fact Ive had such fun seeing it and can't wait to go again tomorrow.
I am a total 80s freak as well and adore any film that deals with that time period, however this one did not have that feel at all.
"This script was not chiseled in stone, it could have easily been adapted for an older Drew. The Boy Band story line could have been tossed as easily as Franz and Regina. There are changes all over the script.
A monkey was added; an older Drew was do-able."
But why? Nikki Blonsky actually being 16 worked for Hairspray. Drew is an ASPIRING rocker, not a pathetic old man bumming around as a barbach. That's just depressing.
You cast a 36 year old as a 20 year old character, then you also have to cast an age appropriate Sherrie. A 35 year old Sherrie coming to LA to make it big is even worse than a 36 year old in a boy band.
Oh calm down, we get it Jordan, you loved it. Doesn't change the fact it's a major flop, but life will go on. Just keep the thought, you can add the DVD to your porn collection in about two and a half months.
Oh calm down, we get it Jordan, you loved it.
No. YOU CALM DOWN. He has every right to express his love for it and if YOU have a problem with it just take your sorry @ss to another thread!
When was I not calm? I don't understand.

They cast who they wanted, and got the results they deserved.
"They cast who they wanted"
How else does one cast a film? Huh?

Shankman wanted to discover a star, he got a dud. You can always cast who you want, you just need to make sure they're someone people can believe in. Diego, although a cutie, and a good singer; isn't a believable wanna be rocker, too clean cut, but he'd make a/is a great pop star.
Yeah, I guess you're right. People never like movies that critics don't.
I am so sick of people questioning and critiqueing others' opinions.
why the FUKC do you care what other people like? YOU ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE TO CALM DOWN.
I hope I love the film as much as Jordan and that I can rave about it too.
People like that care because if they agree with the majority than they're automatically "right" and their opinion is superior, therefore they feel they are, as well.

I saw it today and loved it! My fiance, who is not a musical theatre or 80s music fan, liked it too.
I feel bad for Journey, though, because apparently they don't exist in this movie's universe. Haha.
I also got pretty invested in the romance, and this is someone who didn't care at all about it when listening to the cast recording. I think it was mainly because Julianne and Diego had some great chemistry.
I thought Diego was believable as a rock star during "I Wanna Rock." Heck, I thought he looked way better there than when he was in the boy band.
Oh, no! I hate to be the one to tell you this but you're not allowed to like it. Ammonia2 & BJ2 said so, so yeah.

Uh oh! I'd better go write a bad review of it on Rotten Tomatoes to atone for my sin.
Jordan is free to like it just as much as others did not, as i say i liked bits and hated other bits, but the world would be a dull place if we all liked and hated the same things.
By the way i actually really liked Diego in the film.
Just saw it. I LOVED it. I went into kind of having an off day, and left extremely happy. Such a fun movie.
"What defines a good movie? It’s an important question with Rock of Ages, a film that manages to be uneven in its performances, messy in presentation, overly-gooey in its message and still shockingly, perversely entertaining."

Well, despite the poor box office, the soundtrack is #1 on iTunes all genres.
Jordan, you're making me wanna see it - my expectations are LOOOWWW. Probably a good thing.
Diego, although a cutie, and a good singer; isn't a believable wanna be rocker, too clean cut, but he'd make a/is a great pop star.
He already IS a pop star in his native Mexico. The United States isn't the only country where you can become a pop star, y'know...and now with ROCK OF AGES he has the opportunity to cross over into the Anglo market.

I saw this tonight at the suggestion of Jordan and LOVED IT! It's a fun movie and will certainly become a cult favorite.
