#2754/12/09 - Our nominated performers? (In order of winning probability)
Posted: 4/15/09 at 10:40am
Okay we seem to have a pretty good idea of who will win and who will be nominated in every category except Featured Actress. We are al saying very different things. What I have noticed in the past is that mostly Featured categories is that basically all of the past winners have a moment in the show that they were brilliant in and wouldn't have won with out. Also the other nominated people mostly had a moment in the show. Whose ever moment was the most phenomenal mostly wins.
So
for Karen Olivo people seem to be raving about her very gritty and moving rape
scene and some people are raving about her powerful voic eand presence in America.
for Stephanie J Block people are raving about her Get Out and Stay Out and calling it a showstopper.
for Haydn Gwynn people are raving about her Born to Boogie.
for Martha Plimpton people are raving abot her Show Stopping Zip.
For anyone who has seen all of these shows can say which one of these most screams TONY!

Posted: 4/15/09 at 12:07pmI don't think 9 to 5 will take all of those. I think Billy Elliot will win best musical (although I would also love to see N2N win), Alice Ripley will win best actress, and N2N will win best score.

Posted: 4/15/09 at 12:15pmI don't think 9 to 5 will get all those awards either, Elphie. I think Alice Ripley will win. I do think one of the ladies could take featured actress. Billy will get musical (although in my heart I'd love to see Next to Normal take it) and Lee Hall will get best book. I don't doubt that Dolly Parton has a shot at score although again Next to Normal has a chance.

I do agree that Toro has absolutely no chance. I do however think Barbour will be nominated. Critics loved him and said he was the best thing about tale. Bierko got very mixed reviews and many found him bland.

"Will Swenson isn't winning."
I don't think Chris Seiber win. I wouldn't be so positive that Swenson will lose.

That's whack.

Posted: 4/16/09 at 10:57amWith the praise that N2N is now getting, it's going to be difficult to predict the potential nominees. We now have 5 shows to consider seriously: Billy Elliot, Shrek, N2N, 9 to 5, and Rock of Ages. Before Rock of Ages and N2N's success (with the critics, at least), I would have thrown in [title of show] but don't really think that stands much of a chance at this late date, particularly that it's now almost ancient history.

Posted: 4/16/09 at 10:59amI have not seen Pal Joey, but I've seen 9to5, WSS, and BE. In terms of Featured Actress, I think Karen Olivo deserves it. Her performance moved me much more than the others. I didn't think SJB was that great, and in fact I thought Megan's performance was better. I would make it a race between Karen and Hadyn, having Karen win.

Posted: 4/16/09 at 11:00amI think Billy Elliot, 9 to 5 and Next to Normal are locks for the Best Musical category (and I would hazard best book and score). 4th nominee will either be Shrek or Rock of Ages.
