You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl
"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor
"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl
"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott
After seeing 9 to 5 tonight, I think the best shot at nominations will be Janney and Hilty (Megan possibility getting one of the lead nominations). Stephanie is in fine voice, but Hilty's character is the heart of the show, and the audience falls in love with her.
"Hey little girls, look at all the men in shiny shirts and no wives!" - Jackie Hoffman, Xanadu, 19 Feb 2008
Really pulling for Ms. Hilty. She is a joy to watch.
And you think of all of the things you've seen, and you wish that you could live in between ,and you're back again only different than before...
After the Sky.

Here are my predictions for the musical performers again with a For Him/Her and Against Him/Her. Like I said before my Play prediction are a mess.
Best Actor David/Trent/Kiril Billy Elliot For Them: Received Rave reviews. One of the toughest roles on broadway. The young age factor.
Against Them: The momentum is not as strong as it used to be. Are they really giving the best leading male performance this year?
Gavin Creel Hair For Him: Also got rave reviews. Leading man charisma. Great voice and an insanely energetic performance.
Against Him: Can he compete with the Billy's.
Brian D'Arcy James Shrek For Him: Great Presence. Perfected touching and funny moments.
Against Him: Not as showy a role. Do they really want to reward him for SHREK?
J. Robert Spencer Next to Normal For Him: Was great in the show. Has the reviews to back it up.
Against Him: He doesn't carry the show like the other possible nominees do. Ripley does.
James Barbour ATOTC For Him: I know people disagree but he was called the best thing about tale and while the critics hated the show they all like him. Has a stunning voice and charisma.
Against Him: the critics HATED ATOTC. It closed what seems like ages ago
Best Actress
Alice Ripley Next to Normal For Her: Giving what the critics call the Female Performance of the Year. Her praise never ends.
Against Her: NOTHING
Allison Janney 9 to 5 For Her: Hilarious in the show. Hollywood star comes to broadway and suceeds.
Against Her: She isn't a triple threat like others in the category and her role isn't as showy as others are.
Sutton Foster Shrek For Her: The Musical Comedy Actress of our Generation. She has a show stopping number and voters definitely like her.
Against Her: She was arguably better in Chaperone and Little Women. She did not win for them what makes you think she will win for this?
Josefina Scaglione West Side Story For Her: Charming, beautiful voice and wonderful newcomer.
Against Her: Isn't as good as others in contention. She has a whole career ahead of her.
Kate Jennings Grant Guys and Dolls For Her: Not panned like others. She seems to have given a somewhat decent performance.
Against Her: Her show was ripped to shreds.
Best Featured Actor
Will Swenson Hair For Him: Rave Reviews. Electrifying performance. Steals the Show
Against Him: There is pretty tight competition in this category.
Christopher Sieber Shrek For Him: Hilarious performance. On his knees the whole time. Features tonys have gone to comedic performances before.
Against Him: Some found it silly. Who knows how much the voters like Shrek.
Gregory Jbara Billy Elliot For Him: Goes through a transformation emotionally. Some found him truly breathtaking. Performance of his career. Veteran.
Against Him: On the other hand some found him dull and boring. Isn't as showy as others.
Marc Kudisch 9 to 5 For Him: Well received so far. Somewhat overdue for a win.
Against Him: Both of his previously nominated performances were arguably better,
Aaron Tveit Next to Normal For Him: Newcomer. Gave a breakthrough performance. Already picked up a Helen Hayes.
Against Him: Like Jonathon Groff two seasons ago, he is young. They have time to reward him.
Best Featured Actress
Stephanie J Block 9 to 5 For Her: Has the show stopping number. Has a transformation. She has quite a few hilarious scenes from what I have heard.
Against Her: Could split votes with Megan. Category Confusion.
Karen Olivo West Side Story For Her: Got rave reviews. Has an exciting role and it is a breakout performance.
Against Her: Look back in history. Neither Chita nor Debbie won the tony. Was she really better than them? Dancing Wise? Not really.
Hadyn Gwynne Billy Elliot For Her: Great Reviews. Billy Could Sweep.
Against: Where did her momentum go?
Megan Hilty 9 to 5 For Her: Said to be hilarious and pitch perfect at the accent and the performance itself.
Against Her: Could split votes with Stephanie. Category Confusion. Doesn't have that big TONY number like Stephanie does.
Martha Plimpton Pal Joey For Her: She is overdue for the win. She switched to musicals and stole the show> Versatile and hilarious.
Against Her: Critics weren't fans of Pal Joey. Closed a while ago. She will probably be back next year or some time soon in another great role.
Current Avatar:The sensational Aaron Tveit in the soon to be hit production of Catch Me If You Can.
I agree Drunk Chita Rivera They Should but I don't think they will. When You play a famous role like this you will always be compared. Sometimes people just have such fond memories of the other people so subconsciously they are put in a comparison. If she were originated the role, I would call her the frontrunner.
Current Avatar:The sensational Aaron Tveit in the soon to be hit production of Catch Me If You Can.
Well I think the voters should take into consideration that it's a different time and a different competition. What they might have been looking for in 1957(?) or 1980 they may not be looking for now. There may have been someone better back then in those years and that's the reason they didn't win. Well it's a different time and they may look at the character and the competition in a different way. Therefore I think she should be looked at like any other performer originating a role.
She may not have the dancing skills of Chita or Debbie but maybe they couldn't act or sing like her.
What I don't get though is how did Chita lose to Barbra Cook???? With all due respect to Mrs. Cook who I love but Marian the Librarian over Anita? I know WSS wasn't that well recieved but really??
Current Avatar:The sensational Aaron Tveit in the soon to be hit production of Catch Me If You Can.
Old topic, but the Billy's are being nominated together (and will probably win) because its a good story, and good publicity for the awards.
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
On another note, I hope they do something nice for Natasha Richardson in the Tribute portion.
"I wouldn't let Esparza's Bobby take my kids to the zoo...I'd be afraid he'd steal their ice cream and laugh."- YankeeFan
"People who like Sondheim enjoy cruelty."-LuvtheEmcee
Against Her: Look back in history. Neither Chita nor Debbie won the tony. Was she really better than them? Dancing Wise? Not really.
Because it REALLY hurt Laura Benanti last year that neither Tammy Blanchard, Sandra Church, Zan Charisse, or Crista Moore won a Tony for playing Louise, right?
"Because it REALLY hurt Laura Benanti last year that neither Tammy Blanchard, Sandra Church, Zan Charisse, or Crista Moore won a Tony for playing Louise, right?"
But Laura was considered one of the best people in that role ever. People said it was finally worth awarding.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Chita was even nominated for Anita, so don't blame Barbara Cook for winning that year."
That makes sense. Sorry.
Current Avatar:The sensational Aaron Tveit in the soon to be hit production of Catch Me If You Can.
Everyone seems to agree that the Featured Male category will be filled by Gregory Jbara, Marc Kudisch, Aaron Tveit, Will Swenson, and Christopher Sieber. Any chance of an upset? Who are the other people who would even be considered for this category?
I think Megan Hilty should be considered for Lead Actress in 9 to 5 because she was really the one who stole the show. I can see why Allison Janney would be a better choice, but if it was a perfect world, it would be Megan.
Wesley Taylor got an Outer Critics Circle nomination for Rock Of Ages. Would not surprise me if he, Mitch Jarvis, or James Carpinello from that show take a slot in that category.
Alice Ripley has nothing against her?! What about her 'unique' voice that has people split?
Aaron Tviet has YOUTH against him. Liza Minelli (Sp?) didn't win a tony award at 19 then. What Aaron has against him is that his role is quite small.
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
