Eek! Take it outside you two.
While this thread is very entertaining I am going to post something on topic.
"They mostly give the featured tony awards to scene stealers. From what I have heard Stephanie fits into that category."
Karen also fits into that category. She steals the show.

She "steals" whatever she can from this lackluster production. That is no magnificent feat. It's written as the most entertaining role in the show . Olivo succeeds by default in this one. In any other year ( or with a stronger supporting cast) she wouldn't have a chance.
She can't dance! She can't extend that leg of hers! It's gross!!

...Every single reviewer (exaggeration, I know) didn't seem to give a f***.

Yes, they all seemed to give her a free ride on this one. ( well, a few of them called her on it) She's a lucky gal.
I actually don't care too much that she can't dance because from what I hear her acting is incredible...
I'm just a little upset that I can't see a great Anita blowing away the audience in America
She sounds GREAT on the song and as someone who doubted her dancing, it became irrelevant when I finally saw it (her passion and presence in "America" was brilliant)
But yes... it is a little dissapointing that she's not an amazing dancer.

Does anyone if her understudy is a trained dancer?

I love how you can predict winners in shows that haven't started performances yet. Are you magical?

What hasn't started any performances yet? "Norman" was a critical hit in London, and many people (myself included) saw "9 to 5" in L.A. I've also heard reports from a friend who is working on the production.
And even without any of the above being true, that's the POINT of predicting. People were predicting back in September before ANYTHING had opened.
I'm seriously asking! Logically, how does that work, exactly?

I don't know if you posted your response before seeing mine (I do it all the time), but I answered your question.
I know what predicting means, darling. I never said the possibility of them turning out to be false was a problem. I don't expect fortune-telling. But I also know that if you haven't seen them yourself yet, it's ridiculous to say you know what should and will win. Obviously a lot of people disagree, but I find these self-important predictions when you haven't seen everything you're predicting so irritating.
People were predicting back in September before ANYTHING had opened.
And I rolled my eyes (and probably commented) then, too.

no way sutton foster "should" win she's giving a lackluster performance, at best. Same goes for Brian.

How do you know I haven't seen everything? I HAVE seen everything I said "should" win. I saw 9 to 5 live in L.A.
re: Sutton and Brian, I think they're both doing really well with what they have (better than expected, even), but they're just in a completely different category from some of their competition.
PG2, The Norman Conquests? When I originally posted, I didn't know you had seen 9 to 5, and yes, I commented about winning -- that would be the only thing that hasn't started performances for which you predicted wins. So yes, I suppose if I am to believe you have already seen absolutely everything else on the list, you have seen everything you said should win. I see you can play the semantics game. Congratulations. My overall point, though, still stands, that unless you have seen everything you (editorial) stick on your predictions list, it's just ridiculous. I feel this way every year; I just happened to see your post.

so people aren't allowed to make predictions unless tehy see everything? that's ridiculous.
I think it's ridiculous to make predictions based on what other people say, yes. But no, I'm not saying you can't make predictions about the awards unless you've seen every show of the season. If that's what you think, you're misreading.Of course if something closed in three days and had uniformly terrible reviews, obviously, it makes sense to assume it's not getting nominated or whatever. But to make these lists including things you haven't seen for yourself is silly to me. I'm entitled to my opinion.

It would be ridiculous if we were handing out the Tony awards. But it's not. That's what predictions are: we're predicting how OTHER people will react to different shows and performers.
To be fair, the Tonys are probably one of the more predictable award ceremonies out there. In terms of nominations and winners both.
