Orfeh... Two different ages?

Maybe this is odd to post about but

Orfeh has a few different birthdays/ages listed online..... Why?

Her Wiki says that she's 47 and born in 1971.  If you google "Orfeh Age", you get the answer that she was born in 1967 and is 51.  Why is there a five year age discrepancy when it comes to Orfeh?

Because just about anyone can make or edit a wikipedia page?   And it looks like that's the case.  If you look at the OFFICIAL Orfeh page, it gives the older age.

Surely I’m not the only one who’s been around here long enough to remember the fiasco that ensued years and years ago when the topic of Orfeh’s age came up?

There was a poster (long since gone, but I’m almost certain it was wannabeafoster) that kept insisting she was lying about her age and was actually much older. Orfeh herself made an appearance here on the boards and posted a picture of her driver’s license to try to disprove this poster. However the poster insisted it was a fake and it degenerated from there.

While anyone can edit Wikipedia, they do still have to give some citations and this website gives the younger age. http://www.orfeh.com/page_bio.html

Still, neither can be proven from their say so. Not that I personally care how old anyone is.

I can confirm this happened and was just as absurd as it sounds.

I just found it.... interesting and wanted some clarification.  I don't care how old she is, I just thought it was odd that multiple ages were listed depending on the source.

I just totally had a flashback of that thread and started laughing hysterically. That went on and on for so long. Then when she proved it with her license it was even better. I swear it was like watching an episode of "Maury!!" 

All I can say is she danced and sang the crap out of "Footloose!", She made "Saturday Night Fever". Can't imagine anyone else in that role (and I have seen plenty), and was one again fabulous in "Legally Blonde!"

She could be 61 and she would still be as fierce and incredibly talented!

But thanks for the memories!!

I just think it's really funny that she would come on here and prove her age with her driver's license.  I can imagine the conversation.  A friend of hers, calls her up and says "girl, they are talking about you on that Broadwayworld site".

Orfeh is not the first and certainly the last person to fib about her age (if in fact that's what she is doing).  Irene Cara is notorious for lying about her age. There was an interview she did a few years ago where she claimed she was all of 12 years old when she filmed the 1976 movie "Sparkle", but there is video of an 8 year old Irene dating back to 1967 performing on Ted Mack's Amateur Hour", that would have made her 16 years old when she filmed "Sparkle", which sounds about right when you actually see the film. There is just no way in hell she was 12 when she did it. Philip Michael Thomas who was her love interest in the film was 26 at the time - - - and they shared love scenes!! But she continues insisting she was. It's kind of sad really.

51??? She certainly doesn't look a day over 18. Anyway, Orfeh and the entire cast of Pretty Woman was very nice and sweet to all of us here in Chicago. They should get a Tony Award for NICEST CAST! I hope they run Pretty Woman for a long time on Broadway.

It's just a number, but if it makes her feel better about herself and allows her to get more work, then who cares? There's at least one other notable musical theatre performer on Bway right now who's 5 years older than they claim, but it doesn't stop them from giving a killer performance.

Remember the whole Cicely Tyson situation from a few years ago, in which we found that she'd been stretching her age for years and was 10 years older than previously reported? (93 & still working now!)

She met Andy 18 years ago in 2000 during Saturday Night Fever when she was 33 so she's 51!

I later found out it was one of her crazy "fangirls" that would haunt her at the stage door each night of "Legally Blonde". It was all the talk backstage at Legally Blonde. The ensemble were having a blast with it!

Her father, who was a mad scientist type, had her cryogenically frozen at age 3 so he could test the applicability to freezing sick people until cures for their diseases were found. After 4 years, his wife finally prevailed upon him to thaw her out so she could resume her life. So technically, she was born 51 years ago but in reality she is, for all intents and purposes, 47. That accounts for the confusion about the 2 different versions of how old she is. Hope that helps settle the debate. You're welcome.

And how incredible is that? The performance she gave a few years ago, and in her late 80s/early 90s. Incredible.
