ALW’s Facebook posted this about 30 minutes ago:
“Spring 2019 will see the West End and Broadway production of The Phantom Of The Opera make a triumphant and long-awaited return onto the world stage from February 2019!

Hooray! So far only Manila and Singapore have been announced. Hopefully this means the Macintosh tour will be closing after the LA stop in July 2019.

Looks like Jonathan Roxmouth will be returning as the Phantom for this tour!
I'd link to a specific post on his facebook, but he's been talking about it for most of his recent posts.

And almost immediately following up my previous post, it looks like Beverley Chiat will be Carlotta, or a Carlotta understudy.

I feel like this will be more of an international tour, that won't come to North America. Would they really bring this tour so close to the current (lack luster) one? Maybe 2021 or 2022. but not 2019.

The previous World Tour went to Asian countries, Australia, South Africa, and Turkey. It is highly unlikely it will come to North America or Europe. This is a separate venture, spearheaded by the Really Useful Group, while the US tour is Cameron Mackintosh's pet project.

The international tour of Mamma Mia just played Toronto for 10 days in August, so anything is possible, if not probable in Phantom's case.

Whats the main difference between the original and the and current restaged broadway version besides the scaled down sets?
Was the recent broadway production the very same....pre-broadway return re staging... When it went on tour with the guy from the TV Reality singing show?
For some reason...I enjoyed that pre bway engagement. Just saying.
Can't wait to see the return of the original staging soon!!!

The original was (and is) in London. The sets are not scaled down and the Broadway production is not restaged.

I think you are confusing Phantom with another show. The “recent” broadway production is from January 1988 and still running. Phantom did not have a pre Broadway return or restating. Trying to think of the show that fits what you’re taking about. If you want to see the original staging, go to London or New York
hmmmmm could you be thinking of Les Miserables?

Hooray, indeed! IMO, the Cameron Mackintosh production was a huge miss.

I also read somewhere that the guy who did the scenic design for Band's Visit (I think) was also tasked to edit the design further to make for a quicker load in and out but to keep the look as close to original as possible. I believe apart from rigging the chandelier, its the travelator/bridge that is murder to get set up.
