I misspoke when I said Orchestra Seats were $599 - they are $699.
It's actually disgusting that prices are THIS high.

Matthew Broderick was excellent in "Election."
I agree Betty, he is not my taste as an actor but I believe most of his Broadway stints were successful and made people money. Since that is the most important thing, yes, I do believe he has fans. I think people find him sweet, kind, non controversial and something people are comfortable with. Dunno but yes, white rich people will pay for him. Big time.

Do white rich people actually pay for anything?
Yup. $700 seats to see New York royalty.
I can't believe at the utter crap they're spewing out this year. I expected special shows when we got back to normal. Billy Crystal and now this, God help us.

Who's the "they" you are referring to?

"This" is a show postponed from a season two years ago. Of course it would be back when it is selling well and features two stars with strong name recognition.
Am I personally excited about it? No. But I'm enthusiastic about anything that significantly contributes to rebuilding the energy and audience of theater in NYC right now.

Sorry but this isn't crap, it will be a huge success.

It's nice to cherry pick the "facts" that suit your desired narrative. I'm looking on the show's website and randomly checked a few dates that are listed as "Good Availability" and there are quite a few good orchestra seats at $159. Then there are lots of even better front mezz seats at $159-$199 -- no higher than other non-premium priced tickets. Yes there are $599-$699 seats on the aisle in the first 10 rows for the many people who can afford it, but anyone who is "savvy" enough to find BWW should be able to figure out how to navigate a seating chart and not pay top dollar.
I got a balcony seat in May For $119. I didn’t think that was outrageous. I bought an orchestra seat over 2 years ago for $150 that now seems like a real bargain. You don’t have to spend those crazy prices. It’s supply and demand. If no one buys them, the prices will come down.
Are the two actors appearing in each act? Is that the new spin on it?

Not a “new spin”…that’s the way the play is written and has always been done. (They partially changed it for the movie by casting a different actress in each vignette, with Walter Matthau playing the male lead in all of them.)

Some people on here are acting like they are being forced to buy the premium tickets and that this is the first Broadway show to ever use this price structure. There are plenty of price points available for this. Of course the prices are going to be a little higher for this than your run of the mill Broadway play. There are two huge stars headlining this. A star-studded play at the Hudson - where ticket prices are always a little higher in nature because of the "prestige" of the venue - is going to be priced higher and have those $500+ premium prices points. People are willing to pay that, and, as of others have said, when people stop paying that, prices will be adjusted.
Rich people have needs too, y'all.
I'm curious to see it, especially for Parker, if the prices end up more affordable (my guess is: they will). This is part of a transition for her, playing these roles, particularly the first act. She's moving into another character demographic, and I salute her. If she pulls off the first act, the longest and perhaps most challenging (it's not a perfect fit), she stretches in interesting ways.
We know. They get to have the Veuve Clicquot champagne while munching down the six laduree macarons that come with the VIP sweetheart seats at $999.
Looking forward to seeing out. Our tickets are for Sunday, April 24th.
Didn't realize the Hudson was so hated. I've only seen Sunday in the Park there, but I loved it. And it's modeled after a lot of the West End theaters with their lounges and stuff.

Saw DEH in its first year. While I sat right orch aisle, row F, the "NY Royalty," sat on aisle, center orch 3 rows back.
They had a young teen with them and chatted among themselves throughout the show especially after each song. I wondered if they would like that while they were performing not to mention the folks around them who had to endure it. Left me perplexed.
I did buy a tkt pre-pandemic closure and I agree dealing with Hudson's ATG was not a pleasant experience, but nothing was, I guess, during that initial chaotic time.
Are you talking about Sarah Jessica and Mathew? Yeah, I'm sure they were with their son talking to him about a show that has serious adult themes. As long as they were quiet, I don't see the issue.
And I don't regard them as such (royalty) but other people do. Such as the thousands of women who moved to New York to be Carrie not realizing part time writers don't have apartments like that or $40,000 shoe collections. Those clueless women will forever be amusing.

Might you be part of the production? Did I hit a nerve? . Orchestra seats are $699 except for in the back of the theater and those are $279. That is a riduclous amount of money to spend. Hell, I love Neil Simon but some post pandemmy learnings - gone are the days I am going to pay exhorbant amount of money to see a play. I've only been to that theater one other time to see American Utopia and sat in the first few rows which was perfect.

No, not a part of the show, but (respectfully) if all you are seeing is $699, are you sure you're on the official Hudson Theatre website? There are quite a few scalpers that "look" official, but aren't.

I just purchased a ticket in Orchestra Row S for a Friday night in April for $199.
Other available seats closer to the stage ranged from $299 to $699, so a wide range of available price points definitely exist.
