Very nice - I just hope we are reminded closer to it's release. Sounds like a book sorely missing!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I met Paul at a party at Jerry Hadley's home. He and Jerry worked together on several recordings and socialized quite a bit. I'm hoping he sheds some light on the events leading up to Jerry's suicide.

Umm, when you read the article from BWW, it says memoir...when you click the link to "Learn more here", it takes to a website for writer and historian Margaret Hall. On that site there is no indication that it is a memoir, or co written by Gemignani.; but more of a biography with no imput from him.

Yeah, that's also why I was confused as to why some posters at All That Chat were saying "memoir." Did the phrasing only come from BWW?

I also saw several people on Facebook referring to it as a memoir. I’m excited for this book, but confused by this terminology. Regardless, I will be purchasing it.

It's finally out! After getting pushed back due to supply chain issues, the book has started being shipped by the publisher ahead of its May release date. Personally I can't wait to get my hands on my copy.

Bumping this as the book is now out. I am almost halfway through, and this is simply a MUST READ for theatre fans. I can't put this down and don't want it to end. It is chock full of great stories about the various casts and productions that Gemignani worked with. I HIGHLY recommend this one so far.

Are there a lot of photos in the book? I like an actual book if there are . Want to get it at the Drama Book Store but don't see it on their website. (Although I suspect they have it)

I've been meaning to pick up a copy of this. Did she speak with Sondheim, Kander, Lapine, Tunick, and other key collaborators on-the-record for the book? Or is Paul G the main primary source?

Just received the book. It’s a biography. He didn’t write any portion of this book. Whoever is calling this a memoir needs to get a dictionary to learn what a memoir is.

To be fair, the press release a year and a half ago referred to it as a memoir. It has since been confirmed that it's a biography by Margaret Hall.

As far as I know Drama Bookshop is carrying it, though it's possible they could be out of stock. And yes, there are photos! Margaret is a friend of mine and while I haven't gotten around to reading the book yet, she is one of the most knowledgeable and intelligent people I know and a brilliant writer so I'm very excited to dive into it.

Picked up my copy today at the Drama Bookshop. The copies they had on the shelves are signed. There were 2 left. No extra charge.

I finished reading this yesterday. I loved and cherished every single page. I LOVE books on theatre, and this is one of my new favorites.

Just finishing it and really enjoying it. It is a book I could read again or go back to certain chapters and read again. Lots of things I never knew. For instance, I did not know that the set for "Sweeney Todd" was as complicated as it was. Would never have know it sitting in the theater. I am sure they can't do it much easier these days but it will be on my mind while watching the revival.

A really good read.

Margaret Hall features as a guest on a four episode (!) stretch of the Broadway Nation podcast, discussing Paul Gemignani and promoting the book. She is an absolute delight to listen to, so I highly recommend checking it out.
