Anyone know what they are doing for the 30th Anniversary of Phantom on Bway? Will tickets be available? I noticed on telecharge that date is not listed, just skipped over.
Probably similar to what they did for the 30th in London, with special guests singing after the curtain call. Sierra Boggess will be there. Tickets will be released after they make an announcement. Hopefully they recast some roles before the 30th, I already know they have a new Carlotta. James Barbour should be gone by then. I won't be attending.
I'm a bit confused, just checked Telecharge and saw that on Friday, January 26, 2018 there are 2 performances that day. Do I have the wrong info from somewhere??
Something is fishy with that because now there are only seven performances that week. The Wednesday night AND Thursday matinee are cancelled and a Friday matinee is added? What is going on!
That is strange that there are no shows Weds Jan 24th. Why would they do the celebration THAT night? I mean, the fact that there's no matinee that next Thurs is a small clue, but it doesn't make sense. I hope they do it Friday night on the actual anniversary date.
First there were no performances listed on Telecharge for Friday, January 26, and now there are two (matinee and evening), but Wednesday of the same week is dark.
Cast members have advised me that there has been virtually no information made available to them.
The 25th anniversary performance was at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, so it was observed on the actual anniversary date. If that's customary protocol, then the 30th anniversary should be observed at the evening performance on Friday, January 26.
I want to buy tickets, but I need confirmation of the correct date/time!

I actually DID purchase front row tix to Jan 26th 8pm JUST IN CASE, since it was available. I may get screwed if they have it on another date...but, there is literally no info at all. To me, it looks like they might be having it on Weds, which is super weird. Considering, there is no show listed at all on Weds and the Thurs 2pm isn't listed either. I even called telecharge and they have no clue...seems very hush-hush. Please keep us posted if you hear anything from the cast.

When the Friday performances were added to the calendar, my first thought was to get my tickets for that night. But then I started wondering why Wednesday now has no performances, so I didn't buy. I can't imagine why they would have it on Wednesday, but it's all too odd. A cast member friend is trying to get some info for me but they're being very tight-lipped.

I also have a hunch that there is going to be that cast change that occurs first...well, at least for the Phantom. It seems like JB is planning ALOT of other things in the next few months (i.e concerts etc)...that's just my thinking...who really knows, but the waiting is KILLING me.
Hal Prince loves Kaley Ann Voorhees, so she'll probably come back as alternate. It would look incredibly bad to demote or fire Ali Ewoldt considering recent events and she clearly doesn't want to leave. Hopefully James Barbour leaves for good. Michelle McConnell is leaving at the end of next month.
Recent events involving Mandy Patinkin. I'm sure Hal Prince wants Kaley to be the principal.
Is phantom a must see? I thought the movie was boring. But I know it’s a classic show.
The movie is a bad representation of the show. I recommend seeing it on Broadway only after James Barbour leaves, besides his sordid past, he's pretty terrible and could ruin the show for you.
Hope the people who police me on mentioning James Barbour approve, can I mention my distaste for him in a thread speculating if he'll be replaced?

The talk of JB's past is exhausting and redundant - but I saw him in the show a few weeks ago and was terribly bored by him. I subconsciously focused on Christine and the rest of the company. Excited to hear rumors of a new Phantom coming to town...

The imminent departure of Mr. Barbour is fairly certain.
PM me about the 30th.

I'm curious as well. I went to the theater to purchase tickets for the 26th (I want to be there on the actual anniversary regardless of any special performances) and the man at the box office said "that's right around the 30th anniversary!" but didn't say anything more... Was a little perplexing as that IS the actual anniversary...
