It did work better than Spring Awakening did (for those who aren't already attached to Spring Awakening). And I didn't say that people knew her name -- just that when they saw her, they would know her. Don't underestimate popular primetime television. The people watching Regis watch that.
"She sang each word, the angels heard ... They closed her mouth and shipped her south. The woman's done."

I wish for the Tonys they would start the number with the "The show must go on" beginning part. But I doubt they will. They'll probably start it like they did today, but will still probably be longer.

I really enjoyed the Curtains performance.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Today we have 'Company.' Figured I'd bump up the thread so we can share our humble opinions with one another.
Edit for update -- the entire segment of the CURTAINS performance is now on the R & K site. I know the link was posted earlier, but for convenience sake I'm posting it again.

Was anybody else reminded of Kathy and Bobby's scene in the park by KElly's description of Central Park in the morning?

I kinda want to tune in for Neil Patrick Harris and Grey Gardens tomorrow, but I don't know if I can stomach Kelly two days in a row.

Is that Mary Mitchell? The pacing is thrown off without his piano playing.
Ok, Kelly the actors didnt play their own instruments in Sweeney until last year...

I thought he performed well, though, even if it was a truncated version of the song.

Wednesday "Company" with Raul Esparza (sorry cant put the acento ! ) singing
"Being Alive" with a piano accompaniment. First and foremost- I will say that I love Raul and a big fan of Sondheim. Raul did an excellent job, even though "without" the whole cast of Company playing various instruments. We knew the reason as to why this is a tone down production, if you wanted to see how glorious is this number.
Go buy a ticket for Company at the Ethel Barymore ! I am dispointed bec. Company is one of the show that did not get a lot of airtime on TV. I would like to see more of Company, but its really clinging on the box office right now.
Like what I said- i wont complain or anyone should not complain neither with this number nor the coming Tonys, but instead lets all buy a ticket to Company and see it. BTW- Kelly Ripa & Teddy McGillis (?) held a Company Playbill =)
So this is a rehearsal of what well going to see on TONYS , huh?-J*

I thought so too, and I liked the accompaniment even though it was different.
He looks great, as usual. The insane stress of this week doesnt seem too evident.
I need to see this show again ASAP.
Now I'm off to work, I'm glad he performed when he did because I just made it

He sounded fine, and the arrangement worked, I think, but why so quick? And the song needs to be done as a whole. Bleh.
I jumped out of the shower really quickly when he came on; there are wet footprints all over my room.
Well, I hope that sold a few tickets.

I watched it with my mother, who has some sort of obnoxious girlcrush on Kelly Ripa and watches the show all the time anyway. So she wouldn't let me talk over the lead up. Plus, I love the ominous message of Ted 'Show Killer' McGinley urging people to go see Company.
I liked it. I don't think there was much they could do to get it perfect in that setting. Even toned down, Raul is a little scary for this early in the morning.
My mom clapped.

I'm recording. It doesn't start until 10 here and I'm off to work. By the end of the week, I'll have a whole tape of Regis and Kelly. It's kind of pathetic.

I definitely have trouble dealing with him only 40 minutes after I've woken up.

It is scary how much of the tivo will say "Live with Regis and Kelly" ... Not exactly what you want guests to see.
"She sang each word, the angels heard ... They closed her mouth and shipped her south. The woman's done."

I thought it went well for what it was - too short and too fast. I thought Raul looked good and sounded fine, if not a little extra early morning huskiness at first. Glad to see Mary-Mitchell Campbell as his accompanist, and thought it was super that Raul got the chance to credit her work on the show. Very nice audience reaction, too - for a morning show audience. I do sincerely hope that the Tony performance is at least full length and with proper dramatic tempos. But what a nice way to start an otherwise ordinary Wednesday!
