Riedel is truly desperate. This is a total nothingburger of a story. DeNiro is the co-director, and a major financial contributor to the production; nothing Riedel describes is even mildly controversial given that.

They did just release a new block of tickets. Hopefully the show sticks around awhile.

It might have legs like Jersey Boys (they seem to marketing this as an almost sequel...); but I suspect that once the self-identified Goodfellas crowd from Long Island and Jersey have been saturated, attendance will drop, barring a hysterical rave from the Times. I have no interest in this project, but the only word of mouth that's come to me is very negative.

This production is actually quite good. Some great music and a FABULOUS story. Casting is the main issue, and yes, it did play better at Paper Mill, but I see BRONX TALE doing well. I hope it does!

Uhh, not sure where you got that from...the closest thing to that that he actually said is that it isn't going to last as long as Jersey Boys, which is probably true...

lets just wait until the deluge of new shows begin opening before people decide if something is going to run or not. Bronx tale really has nothing else (save for COMET) that is new right now to compete for tix. Get ready for the massive onslaught beginning in March.

Reidel is always so full of crap. I never take anything he says seriously. He obviously has some sort of stake in this because the amount of gushing in this article is vomit inducing. Every year he makes these kinds of predictions and he's almost always wrong.

Is a five million dollar advance considered good? It doesn't seem like an amount that you would start calling the show a hit. Especially when you think about the five million dollars spread out over how many weeks.

There was a time, not that long ago, when $5mil would have been impressive. Gushing over it now just seems ignorant. I do not begrudge Riedel his biases (contrary to the comment above, it is laughable to suggest he has a stake in any show); they are no worse than those expressed here 24/7. I do have a thing against stupidity however.

The writing was on the wall for Spider-Man from the beginning. We didn't need the gossip columnist from The Post to tell us it was a disaster. Well, I didn't at least.

LOL, I was going to post something very similar.
As for my comment about Riedel having a stake in the show, I meant that his over-the-top gushing made it seem like he had a stake in the show or at least was getting some "quid pro quo" for writing so glowingly about it. It looks very suspect to me.

@djoko84 every gossip columnist favors those who feed him or her, and disfavors those who don't, And Riedel does so very transparently. But aside from a drink or some such, I think any greater "stake" is in the nature of a conspiracy theory.
