Can't wait for this! Never seen the show, so I 100% plan to attend with my hiptix! Hoping for an all female cast as well for this, especially with Paulus at the helm.

When do they normally announce a new season? Seems like it'd be about time to right now. With Kiss Me Kate and All My Sons both wrapping up at the end of next month.

It depends. They announced True West last March and Bernhardt/Hamlet last April. But considering they are built on subscriptions, it makes it harder to sell or to get people to renew when they don't know what they're paying for.

I saw a great production at Porchlight in Chicago where the cast was racially and gender diverse throughout. They were all in modern clothing except for the final scene.
It was brilliant!

Is This the 6 members all-female version where the cast plays the score on violins?
American Apple Pie is served.

Im not as familiar with the show like some of you may be, but who should we be looking for to be cast for this? Male or female?

If this was an all-woman cast, I feel as though that would have been specifically mentioned.

Def curious how this will go. It'll be the same one playing at ART next season, right? So we'll have some idea.

Patti LuPone as Joan Adams and Mary Testa as Benita Franklin?
Seriously, though, I hope they stick with more conventional casting for this one.

I couldn’t imagine this being a full commercial production going up against Hamilton, considering this is in many ways a spiritual predecessor since it follows the same timeline and the casting for this show usually steers overwhelmingly white, which might turn off theatergoers who aren’t interested in seeing that

This may have to do with the Ahmanson. It is hemorrhaging subscriptions because next year’s announced shows are pretty weak. This is the “to be announced” final show of the season and they are using it to woo back subscribers.

I won't hold my breath for this to actually materialize at Ahmanson, as they have announced several shows I got super excited about over the last few years, only to cancel them.

LOL
OK

I remember seeing Will Roland mention in interviews that he would love to be in 1776 at some point - do you think he'd leave BMC for this? It wouldn't be unlike him to leave a show in favor of a coming-to-Broadway production - after all, it's exactly what he did going from DEH to BMC. However, he seems to have a more intimate connection to BMC, having worked with Joe Iconis many times before. What do you guys think?

Quite generous to think that Be More Chill will still be open in a year or two years.

Roundabout Theatre...customers paying broadway prices while actors get paid regional theatre salaries.

I know it couldn't possibly happen now that William Daniels is in his 90s and essentially retired except for book-signing appearances, but I'd love to see the original John Adams as Benjamin Franklin, or maybe as Stephen Hopkins, the other "oldest man in Congress." Even just as a guest in one performance would be wonderful.

Snarky!! You do remember that the Roundabout is non-profit, so no one is benefiting from the Broadway prices. The ability to charge Broadway prices -- and remember that their subscribers receive sizable discounts -- are one of the reasons they remain viable.
