Re: Roundabout's THE HEART

I saw this in La Jolla (and thought it was very good, with loads of potential), but I'm sad that Zachary Noah Piser isn't in this cast. He was a highlight for me, playing and singing the part of the surfer so well.

But, obviously, this cast is stacked with talent -- Heidi, Jason Tam, Drew Gehling, Joaquina Kalukango! -- and I'm excited to see what changes have been made.

Re: Roundabout's THE HEART

Off-Broadway (Roundabout) cast ...

Heidi Blickenstaff - Claire
Joaquina Kalukango - Marianne Lamar
Drew Gehling - Dr. Breva
Jason Tam - Sean Lamar
Lincoln Clauss - Thomas Driscoll
Nick T. Daly - Simon Lamar,
Bre Jackson - Cordelia Owl
Max McKenna - Juliette Brooks
Wren Rivera - Marthe
Understudies - Daniel Brackett, Gareth Keegan, Q. Smith, and Emily Somé

vs. California (La Jolla) cast ...

Heidi Blickenstaff - Claire
Kenita Miller - Marianne Lamar
Paul Alexander Nolan - Dr. Breva
Jason Tam - Sean Lamar
Lincoln Clauss - Thomas Driscoll
Zachary Noah Piser - Simon Lamar,
Bre Jackson - Cordelia Owl
Max McKenna -Juliette Brooks
Wren Rivera - Marthe
Understudies - Selena “Lena” Ceja, Cody Ingram, Brandon Keith Rogers, and Joy Yandell-Hall.

... the Broadway cast could easily be different (or just completing their current contracts). I wouldn't count ZNP or PAN out (if it happens - but it should with the 3 thousand "co-producers" claiming this small show) ...

Also disappointed that ZNP isn’t continuing on with the show, but looking forward to seeing the newbies.

Re: Roundabout's THE HEART

I just booked my ticket as part of my subscription. I’m definitely intrigued by this. ZNP is talented, but he doesn’t do much for me, so I’m going in with an open mind.

Also, getting Joaquina Kalukango means there has to be at least one song where she will sing DOWN like the Tony winner she is

Re: Roundabout's THE HEART

This is probably one of my most anticipated Fall shows (other is Benjamin Button) and just love that it’s in the Pels. I love that space and anticipate the EDM to be exciting. I may rewatch season one of The Pitt beforehand just to prep for the pace.

Is it true that there are no live musicians on this show? I certainly understand why, since it's an EDM score. But I wonder what Local 802 will have to say about the matter.

Given the fact that they made Titanique hire 19 (which will always be hilarious to me), Here Lies Love hire 7, and American Psycho hire 4, I don't think 802 will let them get away with conductor only.

I also don't see 802 budging on the Lunt's house minimum for WARRIORS or the Majestic's minimum for PURPLE RAIN, so those could both have 18.

They had cheaper seats when it went on sale but that has changed with the cast announcement and more interest - and looming Broadway run.

802 won't budge. And all of the "co-producer" types on social media attempting to sell this show to investors/public with a small band selling point will have to make good on the additional $$ spent on them - on known false pretenses.

Can see the Heart hiring "musician" "DJ's" what would "spin" (or even fake spin"Re: Roundabout's THE HEART record tracks or implement Here Lies Love musicians, from the union, at the end of the show.

Re: Roundabout's THE HEART

A bunch of those playhouses have minimums of 4, and the conductor counts as one. So it would only be 2-3 more than what they had in La Jolla. $8-10K more per week is not going to make or break the show. Sue Frost seems smart enough that she would not put the show into an inappropriately big house like the Imperial.

Could see this in the Belasco or Longacre when Maybe Happy Ending & Two Strangers close

All preview performances are $49-79, can't imagine they were any cheaper than that.

Re: Roundabout's THE HEART

There were a handful of $39 in select locations.

Re: Roundabout's THE HEART

Decided on $69 front row, right mezz aisle for my last slot in November. Thanks for your responses!
