I agree that a full live recording would be the way to go. There would need to be something different about it to make me ever switch from listening to the London cast, which has become one of my alltime most played cast albums.

All the rumors I have heard from inside sources are that it is a live cast recording done while all the original Queens were still in the show. They purposely held off releasing it to correspond with Tony nominations.

I've never been a fan of live cast recordings, but if any show is perfect for a live recording it's SIX.

SIX needs to be released on a pop label like Atlantic if it does not want to suffer from poor production quality (looking at you, On Your Feet!).
It’s structured like a concert, so I better hear screaming fans or I will riot.

I don't agree with those who say they only want a live recording. I would absolutely prefer a live recording... but I'd be happy to have any recording of the NY original cast. They deserve it.

Ehhh. I really really dislike live albums. I hope it’s recorded in the studio but at least includes the dialogue in the songs.

The show’s social media accounts just posted that there will be 18 tracks on the album.

The Tweet just has numbers 1 through 18 - so, presumption is that is the number of tracks. But there are 10 songs in the show - 6 solos, 3 group and the Megasix. So, the other 8? alternates? dialog?
They could just release the whole show on one CD, I think. It's very close in time.

Maybe a few bonus tracks with the alternates? Perhaps some mainstream DJ has remixed a couple of the studio tracks?

I just thought of something… what if some of the queens’ artist inspirations have recorded their own studio versions, a la Finding Neverland?
I would kill to hear Beyoncé take on “No Way” and Britney tackle “All You Wanna Do”, just to name a couple.
