I was also there last night. It needs some tweaking, but was better than I expected. Definitely has the potential for a couple songs to be really popular but I think the jury is still out on the show itself.
Oh no, have I returned only to become what I hate most... the old version of me?
Compared to the smaller new musicals(Kimberly Akimbo, KPOP, & Juliet), this certainly appears to have more audience appeal.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Intermission. Great performances. They’ve tweaked it enough so it’s not the same as the movie and very fresh unlike other movie to Bway shows. The music is fantastic.
20 minute intermission? Yikes. Can someone please post the running time of this? We are seeing it this weekend, and I'm getting concerned that it is going to be so long that we will miss out last train home. Thanks.
Also, HOW IN THE HELL can a big, huge new musical like this be in such great shape on its very first preview? My friend and I agreed walking out, that we had the feeling that we just saw the next huge Broadway hit. Only time will tell if that’s true but leaving, this is how you felt after seeing “Hairspray” or “The Producers” - a show just destined to have a looooooong life with music everyone will know.
Great first preview! The audience had a great vibe, and that also contributes to the moment. Initial thoughts:
NaTasha Yvette kills it! Great comic timing and powerful voice.
The way they approached Jerry / Daphne’s identity as a non binary character is very good. The standing ovation of the night was for their song “You coulda knocked me over with a feather”, after one of my favorite songs of the shows “Fly, mariposa, fly”
The tap numbers are great (specially the first numbers during act one)
Also keep in mind this didn’t have an out of town tryout either!!! What a first performance . The people worried about another show with gender being the butt of jokes need not worry.
Musical theatre fans would be well advised to take advantage of the available discounts now. There won’t be any discounting on this show in a few weeks.

Do Christian and J. Harrison play their own instruments? I've been wanting to know this for a while — I hope this show takes the Bandstand route with their characters.
