Broadway seems overdue for a big, splashy show. Most new shows opening this season are smaller or a jukebox musical. I think with Shaiman & Wittman's tunes, plus Nicholaw's choreo, this will be a hit."
I don’t feel like it looks that big or splashy? Some risers and lights… happy to be proven wrong.

Yeah, I’m getting bus & truck tour. About the cheapest you can go. I’ve seen bigger and splashier regionally.
Tomorrow afternoon, the show’s Instagram is going to go live for a first listen at some of the new songs featured in the show.

All mention of streaming the sitzprobe have disappeared. Does anyone know if that is still happening?

That's a shame if it's no longer happening. Was looking forward to it.

That is one location. There are –– per the interview with Pask which includes a look at the model –– a number of other locations as well.
I was struck by the colorfulness of it (we see a lot of neutral tones nowadays). The team seems to be embracing this as a large-scale musical.
As society’s understanding of gender continues to evolve, so do its critiques of men-in-dresses tropes. Some Like It Hot arrives on Broadway following two musical adaptations featuring men dressing up in women’s clothing. J. Harrison Ghee has been an essential part of expanding the role of Jerry, Daphne, and the idea of gender for this production. Ghee, who uses he/they pronouns, told The New York Times, “After reading the draft of the script, I saw an opportunity for me to be pushed as an entertainer by playing Jerry and the opportunity to bring my own nonbinary identity onstage.” Ghee is no stranger to barrier-breaking performances, having played Lola in Kinky Boots on Broadway and Velma Kelly in Chicago at St. Louis’s The Muny. López and Ruffin prioritized conversations with Ghee to bring authenticity and nuance in exploring gender with Jerry and Daphne. “We got to talk to J. about exactly who J. is and exactly how J. feels, and that made me realize J. and this character are in the same boat,” says Ruffin. “So if we stay true to J., then we will not have told a lie.” López adds, “J. has been involved with the show for a long time, and when an actor is that magnetic and unique, it affects the way you write the role. You write for J. We chased after their ideas, their instincts, their spirit, their soul.”

Sacrilege. Okay, turn an existing marquee into a hideous Times Square light box but don’t slap a new one on the side of that gorgeous building. Wtf.
ohhhh it doesn't look that bad.
Wish they'd give the poor Lyceum a better/more prominent marquee!

The Lyceum marquee is iconic and by favorite facade of any Broadway house.
This looks very tacked on and without any design integrity. Could they not have made it match the more historical elements? And all that signage with the name… tacky.
They should remove the two signs on either end of the awning to make up for it, that way you'd be able to better appreciate the three arches.
What the actual f***... that is HIDEOUS!!!! Why would they do that!?!?! That massive advertising space was PERFECT!!!! So many shows utilized it so well!
I wasn't a fan of this artwork to begin with, but to then take it and utilize it so poorly, SMDH.
It's refreshing to see an illustration as artwork on a marquee.
Here’s a clip from an orchestra rehearsal and DAMN that band sounds hot.
Not sure if this is an Overture (seems a little ominous for a musical comedy overture) or Entr’acte or act one finale or what, but…it sounds great!

What's the size of their orchestra, because that clip makes it look very large?

Hard to tell from the clip but looks like at least 15-17 players. Impressive.
If someone out there has the most up to date Shubert orchestra minimum (I do not) that'd probably be a pretty good idea of it.
I don't know the Shubert orchestra minimum, but the band sizes have varied wildly for shows in the recent past –– 9 for MEMPHIS, 14 for MATILDA, 23 for DOLLY, etc.

Like most shows, it’s going to really depend on the sound design. I just saw the notebook and the bad is behind the stage - and later revealed at curtain call - but the whole show the band sounded like a track. Like at a theme park. I hated it. It just didn’t sound live. And was so annoyed they were literally behind the set. It all just sounded piped in.
but agree sounds great!
