Adam Greer, I love you. Thank you. Once again, a voice of reason.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
There sure seems to be alot of LOVE for this show, and seemingly fantastic performances.....Yet no one has fleshed out their thoughts on the piece itself and WHY it's so great.
This was the funniest show I've seen in a long time. Act 2 seemed a little too long (But it was a dress and they still have plenty of time to fix it) But other than that I thought the show was GREAT. Extremely funny Great music (I want the cast recording like NOW, It's that good) I was surprised at how tight everything seemed they didn't have to stop the show once, It seemed like a regular performance (Again this was the first final dress I've attended)
It seems like they have a great show on their hands, I will be going back as soon as possible
Just to chime in -- a reminder that at least one of the major discount codes (linked below) expires TODAY. Per what others have said above - the show is going to be a huge hit. I'd recommend getting your tickets for this, like, now if you want to see it anytime soon. BOM Discount Code
Wow, was it as catchy as their songs in 'South Park'? Was it tough on Smith?
Also 'In The Heights' is coming to my town (Hershey PA) and I’m trying to win tickets for me and my Mom through an online contest. just click this link below and it counts as a vote for me, thanks
O M Gosh! Amazing! Felt great to laugh for two and a half hours!!
The show had a sound issue after the first number and they stopped for about 10 minutes. The director came out and said they would start from the top again. From there it was smooth sailing. I turned to my friends at the end and asked, "Can we come back tomorrow?"
The direction and choreography were spot on and the score and book will easily be nominated for Tonys. The melodies were tuneful and catchy. Definitely walked down the street singing "I am Africa" and "Salt Lake City." The two leads are endearing and Nikki M James will find much praise for her performance. The true stars for me were the "two" ensembles: The African Villagers and the Mormon elders. They had the best numbers, including a "Turn off the switch" tap dance and a play within a play retelling of the Joseph Smith story. (There was no song list in the program so I'm guessing at titles.)
The make fun of the Lion King quite a bit and it never gets old. There's a great line about them being in previews still too.
Anyone who's worried about being offended (maybe not on this board, but still) should banish all fear. Everyone is VERY likable and it never crosses any lines it shouldn't have. Congrats to all on a wonderful first preview!!!
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
Change from last night: When the African people are retelling Joseph Smith's story, the man playing Joseph Smith was not in whiteface as he was last night;.
Elder Price: Kevin Duda, Nick Spanler; Elder Cunningham: Ben Schrader; Price's Dad/Mission President: Kevin Duda, Ben Schrader; Mafala Hatimbi: Tyson Jeanette, John Eric Parker; Nabalungi: Ta'Rea Campbell, Ameret Ghebrenichael; Elder McKinley: Scott Barnhardt, Brian Sears
i think most people on this site would not call themselves part of organized religion especially being christians.
I think the show is brilliant. I think when non-theater people start seeing it it will cause a HUGE outcry from religious people and protests will happen. I don't think you can sell it to groups, families, people over 65 or kids..soooo who is gonna come see it?
You can say the southpark fans but i disagree. Again, i think the show is brilliant, saw it invited dress, but this thing will run till labor day. I wish it would run for 10 years. 85% of the country calls themselves christian and they will not get the message trust me though i think the message of "religion is cool if it gives people hope and doesn't hurt anyone else..so who cares is frogs are involved or anything you want..as long as it makes people happy" BUt people will walk out way before they understand that is the message..
