It was absolutely fantastic, the most i have ever laughed at a show and the music was really really good, will not at all be surprised if it takes home a couple tony awards. robert lopez matt stone and trey parker have a absolute will make your jaw break the floor from it dropping so hard, hit on their hands. "The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I was at the performance tonight and it was absolutely phenomenal. Funny, filled with heart. They could freeze the show at this point and it would be totally fine.
I had the chance to see it tonight, BUT my friend didn't get back to me until late in the day, and by the time I got the message the show had already started. Oh, well. Life goes on....right?
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
It was a pretty fun evening. Not exactly my type of show, but I appreciated much of it. It wasn't as shocking and offensive as I had expected, especially after all of the buildup. The score is poppy fun, but ultimately pretty generic. I think I prefer Avenue Q's score. Some great lyrics. Wonderful act 1 finale. I think act 2 could use some trimming. It just felt too long. Performances were great. Andrew Rannells is an absolute star. He will hopefully go onto to do some more great stuff. His performance was definitely worthy of a Tony nomination. Josh Gad was hilarious, and I am sure he will be nominated for a Tony as well. Nikki M. James also did some nice work. I think there's still room for improvement, but I had an enjoyable time!
I have to agree with the previous posts. The performances are phenomenal. I am shocked about how good and tight the show is already. I don't think they will have to do much, if anything to the show for opening night. The whole house was laughing so hard the entire night. Definitely a great show, and I will be seeing it again ASAP!
Absolutely fantastic. Really blew me away. Needs a little tightening; it did run a bit too long. But the cast and the material is really first-rate.
It's more of a SPAMALOT than an AVENUE Q in terms of presentation, but it certainly doesn't skimp in terms of controversy, sacrilege or raunchiness. Absolutely uproarious.
Nikki M. James and Andrew Rannells are absolutely fantastic. Josh Gad is quite good as well but will certainly grow with a little more time as he finds some shading in the role. The producers of the show would be wise to consider pushing Rannells as the leading actor and Gad as a featured. I think both would have a great chance at scoring a nomination. James, I hope, will be considered in the featured actress category as well.
I adored this show. So fresh, so fun. Almost every joke landed and absolutely ignited the audience. What a great experience!
This is great. And I may be biased because I'm a huge Matt Stone and Trey Parker fan, but this is one of the best things I've seen in a long time. The score is brilliant. Parker and Stone's best yet. Everyone around me, in the FB contest winners section, were in hysterics the whole night. Looking to the boxes at the connected people who are just kind of smiling as they talk about cutting off clitorises...makes me excited to see what the response is. All my friends there loved it and are raving on Facebook! Can't wait to go back tomorrow.

See what happens when professionals put up a show the right way?

It was great! So funny outrageous and so so so so so TIGHT for a final dress! Its true how great a show can be when professionals are behind it! I loved it!
It was THE funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard, or fell in love with a score so instantaneously.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
That was the funniest show I've seen in...forever. It was hilarious. There was only one song I would have liked to see them change, but otherwise they could freeze it as is.
Also LOVE that they didn't use a single projection! I missed real sets so much...

It's interesting that no one seems to care about the breach of "protocol" and "etiquette" regarding posting about invited dress rehearsals because this show is...good. If the show had been awful and people posted, the self-righteous members of the board would be screaming.
(And I realize that the free tickets were given away specifically so that people would come to places like this and rave about the show.)
WHERE THE HELL DO YOU GUYS GET OFF!! It was their DRESS REHEARSAL!!! Let me repeat DRESS!!! REHEARSAL!!! There are still plenty of previews left to make cuts, change set pieces, add songs, recast folks, etc. This could turn out to be TOTAL DRECK! And all of you show queens feel the need to come here and PRAISE a show that isn't even finished yet!!! This could be the next IN MY LIFE!!!! And now, thanks you your enthusiasm, everyone is going to start turning tricks on the weekends to afford premium tickets to a show that could still be TERRIBLE!! HOW DARE YOU!?!?!?!
