So then I ask you: when do we draw the line? If we accept that someone like Metcalf is doing his productions for the reasons you mention, do we systematically review his work of the past 20 years and decide not to purchase tickets for these individuals (…except for maybe Donna, for obvious reasons)?
I’m trying carefully not to divulge into syllogisms, but that seems to be the next direction for this particular topic. It’s almost impossible not to.

You have gone off the rails . Maybe just not a good day for you? But I am enjoying the melt down .

You are not cops, judges, or litigators. Wagging your finger at those of us who are over it changes nothing and, frankly, seems like a luxurious thing to be focused on in the United States in this cursed year of 2025.

Funny yousay that, because I'd actually argue the reason we are where we are in "this cursed year of 2025" is because people are giving P.O.S human beings like Rudin, Trump, and Andrew Cuomoa second chance even though they've literally done nothing to earn it. A lot of "Yeah, he sucks and is a terrible person, but things were better when he was in charge" for all three of them.
"
If you truly can't distinguish the difference between a hate-filled rapist in the highest power in the country and small potatoes like Scott Rudin's treatment of his assistants in his business, you've truly lost the plot.
Can anyone here say for sure they will boycott a show he produces? My guess is a big fat no so what are you doing, exactly?

Again, Scott Rudin is not accused of screaming and yelling and calling people names. He's accused of serious allegations of assault.
The "I'm rubber and you're glue" argument doesn't hold water.
And if anything, there should be LESS tolerance for Rudin's behavior in an ostensibly inclusive and progressive theater world.

I really did not mean to upset you. I said you are a drama queen. Is that what you mean by calling you a name? You don't think you are a drama queen? Interesting. I thought from your last 3 posts on this thread that it is something you proudly own. ( Not diminishing anything your trying to say.. just that your kind of going off at strangers). And as far as asking for a Gypsy discount code in the Gypsy thread... I did scroll and google and all that. I guess I am just not very good at it. Which is why I asked for help. This board is always very supportive with things like that. A great resource. Poison Ivy helped me out and I was able to get very good seats. And I do see by scrolling back that I did say thank you. I am very grateful. I hope you have a good day.

I mean I think it’s totally fair to draw the line at people who are willing to engage on new projects with his after he “stepped away”. Like—at this point being a big name attached to a new project of his is pretty shameless.

I think you've lost the plot on this one, since you never actually address what I wrote. I'm not saying Rudin, Trump, or Cuomo are equal in the specific actions they did or equal in their jobs and the specific level of power/importance. I'm pointing out how they all used their positions of power to abuse people. Now, they're making comebacks and they have supporters who are basically downplaying the awful things they did, focusing on (true or not) how good things were when these guys were in charge. I'm saying that people downplaying what Rudin did is part of a larger societal attitude towards letting people back into any of position with power after they've shown they can't handle it or be trusted with it.
This thread is just... lmao.
In regard to boycotting, I will happily pay for high quality bootlegs of the productions he’s affiliated with, as opposed to buying tickets. I may be extremely interested in the performances of Metcalf and Lane, but not enough to financially support his endeavors…
Unless we get word that he’s actually showing up in a different capacity & manner than he did previously, for which I won’t hold my breath.

You are speaking as if Rudin were merely just a jerk to his employees. He would indeed be within his rights to be a total asshole in his business- it's not commendable or desirable behavior but it's also not abusive. But, no, he actually was actively abusive, emotionally and physically, and it has been exceptionally well-documented over many years.
I do think that in the move to prevent abusers from being in positions of power, the question of rehabilitation has fallen to the wayside or been dismissed. I'm not exactly sure what I would want in the form of rehabilitation in this case, or what guardrails I would want to see put in place to ensure Rudin doesn't just continue on hurting people with considerably less power than he does. But I do know that a friendly NYTimes profile with vague talk of therapy, deflections of accountability, playing down of the allegations, and the subtext of "Broadway needs me" doesn't really fill me with confidence.

Maybe she was just on the rag . Sutton can be unhinged. But that was a crazy meltdown . I wish her well."
That’s not a good comment . Why even bring this unfortunate exchange up again today? Let’s move on. Everyone is better than this.

It's my understanding that Rudin committed crimes (probably felonies) in the course of his abusive behavior. The criminal justice system should have held him accountable for these crimes, but obviously the system, for whatever reason, dropped the ball and he's never going to face appropriate punishment.
I think if he had been convicted, sentenced, and paid his dues, I'd be the first to say that he should absolutely resume his career. Given that this didn't happen, I'm much more skeptical, especially since he's not someone who needs to resume his work to survive.
