Yeah, those onstage tickets are not at all cheap. And to think, I paid $20 at ART and never more than $70 off-Broadway.

Wow, that is truly one of the more interesting layouts that I have seen. Hope this show is good, I'm a sucker for stage seating.

Ouch to the pricing! I guess onstage is going to be their premium seating.
Truth be told, I preferred my front row seat to on stage seating at the ART.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Depends how pre-sale goes. And if they are considering on stage seating as premium, it may not be included.

...have you looked at that chart? Anyone who has seen that is not going to knowingly pay $150 for seats that look like they will have a majorly obstructed view. I love the show, can't wait to see it again and hope many people will see it and give it a long life, but based on that seating chart, those seats do not look great.

The show will be hyped up and as we have seen recently, people will pay any amount and endure any hardship to see a specific show. This may very well be the case here. If so, people will still pay thru the nose just for the bragging rights to say they saw it.

Damn!! Those tickets prices are crazy!!! Do they really expect people to pay $200+ for those on stage seats?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I do ge the ticket prices since its playing 1,400 seat theatre and probably decreasing the capacity by almost a fourth or even third.

Instead of going for an open ended off Broadway run, they decided on this. This is a big gamble .It will either be a monster hit or sanity may prevail and it will flop. The pricing structure was probably designed with the best possibility of paying rent,cast,crew and investors. We shall see.

So is the stage being built out into the area where the orchestra seats begin or is the imperial stage just that big to accommodate the stage and all that on-stage seating? I've never seen this so I may splurge on an on-stage seat.

I would not give up on the stage left seating. It is very possible that the area where the seats are is elevated making the first set of steps below the seating area and not the obstruction feared.
This looks wonderful and I can't wait to see how this plays. I miss the days of Dude and Candide at the Broadway. I am beyond thrilled that this level of alternate seating is making it to Broadway.

Hmm... I don't think you can really compare Comet to Hamilton. Besides the out-of-town tryout at ART, Comet has had two New York productions and it wasn't gangbusters. There are no bragging rights for Comet.
Maybe the Groban fans will pay for the onstage seating, considering the prices for onstage/pit prices for his concerts ($299 to $549 for his Camden stop). However, to be honest, outside of Groban and theatre peeps, there hasn't be excitement/hype for Comet.
I'm hoping for a $18.12 deal. LOL.

You can see the indent of the proscenium on the seating chart - it's right around where the red seating starts. So the audience seems to be sitting on the pre existing "stage" of the Imperial, with the new playing space being in the front orchestra level.
Also, In the mezzanine seating chart, you can actually see that the staircases on the sides are going to be built next to the boxes, not on top of them. You can see the architectural indents of the boxes.
The set designer for this show has a magnificent portfolio, and I trust her, but I must admit I am very worried about sightlines from the rear mezz. Having to be able to see the floor of the orchestra seating sounds like a stretch.

I'm confused about this. The show is terrific... surely... but it's had two New York runs... at least one of which I don't think was a sell out smash... is there really a market for this at these prices? I guess Josh Groban is very much a star with a wealthy fan base... it just seems a little odd to me, I guess.

The producers have to make as much as they can cause like Dude and Candide, they must have a contract to restore the Imperial Theatre the way they found it!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the first two runs limited engagements? I think Josh Groban will be a big draw, especially among audiences that aren't avid theatre-goers but see a show or two as part of a trip to New York. Plus, there are many in New York, myself for one, who didn't see the earlier performances and will go to this show. I grant that it's not an easy sell, but I think with Groban's appeal it will at least last til the spring.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

The restoration costs will be hefty so unless Groban has a HUGE fan bad willing to shell out big bucks, they may have a long road to travel.
