i don't get the hilarity. . . she could have been seriously hurt.
glad she'd ok tho.

I'm a huge fan of Bean and I think this is hysterical. Had she been injured, no it wouldn't be funny. But since it was just a clumsy mistake, I find it to be quite funny.
DefyingPopular - yeah I don't really see what's funny about it either. Elphaba seems to be a pretty dangerous role. She's probably more embarassed than hurt but sometimes adrenaline covers up pains she wont feel until tomorrow. Let's hope this isn't the case. Either way, I give her so much credit for not letting that throw the rest of her performance off.

classic
No one laughed. Everyone just stared at the stage and watched her get up. It happened pretty fast, maybe some people didn't notice. No one laughed, I hardly even heard any gasps, everyone (including myself) was just shocked. Thank goodness for that tarp.
I know I let out a nervous laugh after Shoshana got up and back onto the stage safely, but during the fall and the pick-up, I was freaking speechless.
Miss Bean is a Super Trooper...the show must go on!

...humorous!
Has anyone else noticed that Idina Menzel likes enterances that could potentially leave her in much pain? I mean first... it's the bike in RENT, coming out a door, and going right to the front of the stage, even though there's no Orchestra Pit in Rent, and then Wicked... she comes booking in, and could potentioally fall into the pit and kill herself... lets hope she comes on in a safe way in SEE WHAT I WANT TO SEE.
But so glad she's alright. Thank God for stand lights... because without them, there would be no need for the black netting that's strung over the pit, so the light won't come up onto the stage.
Having fallen off a stage before (It was only three feet, there was no Orchestra Pit... but I almost cracked my head open on the piano... strangely enough... it was in the Wizard of Oz, and I shenaeed off the stage in the Jitterbug number... hmm...) I know that you just kind of get back up, and finish... and then laugh histerically when you get off stage.

This is pretty hilarious. How does one just go about falling off a stage? Haha. I am sincerely glad that she's okay though.

Julian, Maureen doesn't actually come onstage on a motor cycle--if you look, you see stage hand blatantly standing there holding a large light that simulates the motorcycle coming out in the dark.
As I said BlueJ when Elphaba runs out the stage is really really dark execept for a few spots. And they make her stop at nearly the edge of the stage, so I mean an extra step or a little slip and your a gonner.
Ok, I really like Shoshana and I'm laughing out loud! I'm glad she's ok though.
did they stop the show while she adjusted? or did they continue whilst she was getting back up...
poor orch guys sitting under the tarp are playing as usual then suddenly their roof starts caving in...with a green foot.
As a friend of mine said, it was a suicide jump. She was too depressed over All Shook Up closing.
"Dearrrrrrr ollllllllld shiiiiiiiiiiIIIII...........TTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Funniest thing I've seen all day.
Wicked isn't very nice to its leading ladies. Kristin's neck, Idina's ribs (and throat), Stephanie's back, and now this. I hope they all have good insurance.
or contracts that pay extra for such dangerous situations!
ps. dididda, her foot isn't green, but i got what you meant!
what an idiot.
she needed to ShoDown.
:)
I think it's VERY inappropriate to call Shoshana "stupid" for falling off the stage. It was a huge accident and she looked absolutely terrified. She played it off amazingly and so did the rest of the cast. My mom didn't even know what happened for a few seconds. Shoshana was supposed to stop about two feet before the stage ends, she couldn't stop, stumbled and kind of went feet first onto the tarp, she didn't fall on her face. Her arms remained on the stage as she turned around while she fell, and Megan helped by pulling her back up. I'd say it took all of 10 seconds and there was really no need to stop the show. And they didn't. Things were absolutely normal afterwards.

Damnit! You just ruined my arm-flailing, horror-stricken, head-first mental image!
