it's quite possible her u/s will be going on. That would be 5 days of rehearsals for her u/s, so I see no reason why either Cearcy or Iman won't be ready by Friday night.
It sounds to me that the producers have determined that either Audra will be well enough to perform Friday night or the understudy will be prepared to go on, so that either way the Friday night performance can proceed. I suspect that whether it will be Audra or the understudy will be a last minute decision.
it's a shame with their hiatus coming up that they couldn't add in a performance or two. They'll only play tomorrow night & two shows on Saturday. They should of been able to add a performance next Friday, April 1, at least.

They DID add a performance for next Friday. It said so in the release.

If that's the case then why would they want to be open the entire summer when Audra will be in London doing lady day?

Because they'll have someone to replace her by then, Jorge. A name.

because they are getting another name to replace her for that hiatus as has been discussed her for several months
We have tickets for the April 2 matinee. I very much hope Audra is better by then, she's the main reason we're going.

I have tickets for this Saturday's evening performance...praying Audra will be there!

Very thoroughly researched article by John Jeremiah Sullivan in the NY times this morning on the long journey to the stage of Shuffle Along and black performers and performance in general. A must read.

Any word on whether Audra is expected to be back tonight?
Just arrived in NY for tonight's performance and have not heard anything.

None of that is new, it's just the NYT posting it late.
looks like Audra's back tonight based on her tweet just now

I have a friend at the show tonight and they've got the new Playbills in case anyone's curious.

Audra is in fact back tonight, not noticing any effects of her illness fortunately. First act clocked in at 1:25 so perhaps further trimming has occurred although there is no song list in these dreadful new Playbills.
VERY interesting that there is not song list in the new Playbills... As much as I disliked the the show that I saw at the second preview, I will forever be grateful for my Playbill that I received.

I disliked the show as well. It is down to 2:55, but I think the book was the major problem for me, some great dance numbers, but collectively I could not wait for it to end. Hope they can do some significant rework during the off week as there is too much wasted talent here.

The added April 1st performance is no longer showing up on Telecharge for me - any ideas why?
