I have heard that it IS actually in some DISNEY contracts to appear at the Stage Door, and it is definitely encouraged for the leads to greet the fans. I don't know Sierra's problem, I mean except for "christining" the DISNEY tourist buses, I havent seen her name on any other events that would keep her so busy to dissapoint her young fans.
I never heard that it was in the contract of leads in Disney shows to do so. But, I wouldn't be shocked to hear this. Disney does go out of the way to have a friendly approach to their shows even if it does mean having them sign in their contracts that they will stop and sign.
But, given the fact that Sierra has been rushing and in some cases not signing I doubt that she has it in her contract that she is going to sign.

He's a faker, and you've been taken in by his con. And in doing so, you are enabling him. He is doing more damage to aspergers than papa's words ever could. -Chane/Liverpool on me having asperger syndrome.
There have been many an actress who has played Belle at the same theatre who said that they loved talking to the little girls after words. Point I'm trying to make is that there are some actresses who have been in Disney shows who like talking to the kids afterwards.

We saw the show Saturday Night and she was very very gracious to all the people in the line. She took pics with my partner (it was his birthday and The Little Mermaid is his favorite movie)....Everyone was very very nice about autographs. The only thing that upset me was that Sherie did not come out. They said she goes out another door. I actually think that is worse. I actually really love Sherie and thought she was great in the show but I felt that, yes it is her right to not sign autographs but she sneaks out another door? That is so Britney Spears of her.... lol

General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. I am seeing the show tomorrow and I really want Sierra to come out. I mean who wouldn't give up the oppertunities to talk to some fans and and be told that she is their idol.
I'm sure there are stagedooring fans who can be pretty rude, and if a performer is having a bad day, they might not want to deal with a possibly annoying crowd.
One reason I'm sure I could never do a Disney show though, I really hate kids, and having to stand out there and talk to them would be terribly awkward and uncomfortable.
I remember Sherie saying in the Broadway.com behind the scenes video that she doesn't like stage dooring. Only because she wants to get home to her son and that the inventions of camera phones only make things worse.
And, at Disney shows I have never seen the stage door fans be nothing but nice.
If it were Wicked or Spring Awakening or Rent or something like that then that would be a different story.

wow, curtaindownpuller. you managed to get two inaccurate pieces of information into such a small paragraph. In that cry-baby thread, you only fit one lie (albiet a big one) in the same space.
So to correct his post:
First, equity would not allow a rider to require stage door signings because it would complicate all kinds of rules regarding when actors are on and off the clock (overtime, etc..). So once again, your sources are very wrong.
Second, I don't even know a thing about sierra's career other than what I read on this board, but I know I've seen photos of her singing at at least 3 benefits plus chatterbox and a ton of press (in addition to her bus christening). I'm sure she has to rehearse for those events as well so unless you don't read the articles on this site, you should know this. Otherwise, don't comment on her career when you admit you know nothing about it.
As for this thread, I would encourage all fans of Broadway to please remember that the actors owe you a commited performance on stage and nothing else. Of course, it's cool when they meet you backstage (and they frequently do), but to expect it isn't really fair to them. There are nights when they have places to go or are just plain exhausted and to be critical of them on these boards for not going above and beyond on that particular night seems very unfair.
If the audience could do better, they'd be up here on stage and I'd be out there watching them. - Ethel Merman
I am sure that Most of us KNOW this.. but I thought this was a board where we are allowed to view our opinions.
Yes they do not HAVE to say anything to us but it is nice and you know what... an ounce of being nice to someone at the stage door goes a lot further in the world then being ignored.
AND another thing... If you are in the theater world, you kind of expect it to have people at the stage door. God help the star who leaves the theater one night and NO ONE is there to say "good show"
Anyway~ Back to Sierra... she was very nice and I think that for some of these people... the fans are at their first broadway musical and it is good to make a nice impression.

I stand corrected on point two but not sure about one, though I have not really seen her name attached to other projects but if you have I believe you. All kinds of riders are granted to producers on Equity contracts.
I mean who wouldn't give up the oppertunities to talk to some fans and and be told that she is their idol.
This is actually an interesting point: I think it means more to the fans to tell her that then for her to hear it. I'm sure she hears it a lot, and eventually it all sounds the same and you just want to get home after a long day. I don't know this of course, but I'm just saying...I watched a video once of Julia Murney at the Wicked door -- the fans were saying things like, "You have such a beautiful, rich voice...So powerful..." and Julia is polite and smiling, but not really especially moved or amazed.
Not that this means much, seeing as how it was so long ago, but . . .
When we saw the show it was very late in previews (it would have been the day before the opening, if the strike hadn't pushed things back), and Sierra was very nice and happy to take pictures, which was especially impressive because of how miserable it was outside. She even dealt well with a couple of very annoying girls who insisted it was both of their birthdays and told every actor that they were their absolute favorite character, even if they weren't sure who they played until a couple minutes after they left. I would be very surprised if she was trying to rush through the fans, unless she had somewhere else she needed to be. Then again, they are much further into the run now, and maybe the stage door has taken its toll on her.
On a side note, Sherie actually did come out and sign some Playbills when we were there. She didn't take pictures, because she was actually pretty sick (you could hear it in her performance). Then again, someone probably grabbed her and forced her out the door because a large group had been patiently waiting while she and some other cast members received some notes. We only stuck around because she was the real reason we even saw the show.
exactly, broadwaybenny. I feel so bad when people say its so mean of them not to come to stagedoor every night of every day. they have lives too, and sometimes they are just plain tired!!!
"I told you, NO Rodgers and Hammerstein!"- Bart Simpson
As I have said, I NEVER have a problem if they don't want to do it. I know that they aren't forced to and no one is making them.
What does irk me is that when they chose to do it they are bitchy through the whole process. If your going to chose to stage door and sign things for the fans please be nice about the whole thing and not act like someone is twisting your arm through the entire process.

Is it true?!?! That Sierra is not really signing anymore?? I'm planning to see "Litte Mermaid" in August. Do you think that she'll be there to sign? Does Sean Palmer ever come out o sign? Has anyone seen Sherie lately?
To be fair, being polite and engaging in conversation with a bunch of strangers 8 times a week is tiresome enough, let alone after busting your ass on stage for a few hours beforehand.
Even the nicest person would have off days. Especially when it involves kids, they can be incredibly draining to interact with.
I second what Winston said about Sherie, she has said she wants to get home to her son...so her leaving via a separate door to get home is perfectly understandable.
This is a job to them after all, it's not like they're 'celebrities' and got into it for the screaming fans.
But I do agree, if you're going to bypass the fans, either don't go out the stage door OR apologize while you walk out. Don't just storm off ignoring them.
