Just wanted to say - my review was certainly mixed, but gosh, Mama, I would never tell people not to go and see a show! (Not that I'm saying that's what you're saying, iyswim.) Think it'll be interesting to see how the show develops.
Also, Alan Menken and his family were sitting right in front of me, which was pretty exciting.
CONAries - I'm hugely proud of you for going in nun's habit. I'm the biggest fan of dressing the part to the theatre but not even I'm doing that! Think I'll wear my new Armani suit for the first time when I go tomorrow night.
Don't worry my reputation will be intact after my second trip to Priscilla next month (and possibly after "The Producers" in Berlin this coming Saturday!)
I saw it last night and loved it. Once it got into it's stride it was amazing. I cant even begin to say how amazing that set was. The performances were spot on especially Julia Sutton.
The plot is wafer thin and at times some of the filler scenes were in danger of slowing the whole piece down, but thats a minor grumble on a great show
Saw the show for the second time last night (via day seats). The front row is incredible -I was with two non-musical-theatre-fanatics and they fell in love with the show as well as the buzz of sitting in the front row.
Afterwards, we went to the Shakespeare's Head, and Chris Jarman (who plays Shank) walked past and totally recognised us.
They loved sitting in the front row so much that we've already planned our next outing -next Saturday we're doing the Hairspray day seats queue. Two more musical theatre fans in the making :)
PS: I love the souvenir brochure!! There's a large poster, a page of cool stickers and two postcards as well 46 colours pages of production photos and articles.
