Yeah not diminishing Six's femininity or queerness, just saying given the optics and stuff, A Strange Loop seems more deserving. And having a Best Musical win would help it have a healthy run where as Six doesn't seem to need any help. And also I'd love to see A Strange Loop this fall, so hoping it sticks around.
I don't really see the case for MJ as Best Musical. ASL has a better book, the music isn't original (and integration into the book was iffy) ... so you're awarding Best Musical based on ... superb choreography? To be sure, it's a fun show, but so is Six. If we're rewarding creativity and originality, I don't see how MJ edges out over ASL and Six. Is the case "most commercially viable that's actually a musical"?
If I were a Tony voter, I'd personally vote for Six over ASL, but can see plenty of merit voting for ASL over Six (and think ASL will win, despite my personal preferences). Also see plenty of merit for Myles Frost over Jaquel Spivey for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. But MJ for best musical over the other two? Bit of a puzzler to me.
Am I actually reading that a show that' s a worldwide phenomenon isn't worthy of winning because the queer/female creatives "are white which is boring".

You're really telling me I'm misusing the term "woke" when the protagonist of the show wears a T-shirt that says " ̶I̶m̶p̶e̶r̶i̶a̶l̶i̶s̶t̶&̶W̶h̶i̶t̶e̶S̶u̶p̶r̶e̶m̶a̶c̶i̶s̶t̶&̶C̶a̶p̶i̶t̶a̶l̶i̶s̶t̶&̶P̶a̶t̶r̶i̶a̶r̶c̶h̶y̶.̶ #bellhooks" for the entirety of the show while singing 99% of the time about being marginalized and treated unjustly for being black and queer? Really? Lol.

How do you “get that”? I’ve never written my thoughts on that show. Are you confusing me with someone else you disagree with and want to appear superior to?
Not at all, I read your post on this thread that stated "Nothing would make me happier than that upset" when someone mentioned Six possibly winning over A Strange Loop. Take care.
I think both are deserving, but for me, I prefer more story. Granted I haven't seen both and I'm not sure ASL has much of a plot to it, but at least more than Six.

If you took the time to read instead of jumping on your high horse so quickly, you'd have seen that Jordan was commenting on the potential for Girl from the North Country, not Six, to win over ASL.
For the past 2 weeks I have been feeling that the race is between ASL And Girl From the North Country. I really like them both but feel that if we do see an upset, Girl... will be the show. But I have to say it is quite amazing how ASL is striking a chord with people.

What a short sighted opinion. One has a story, the other has history, and a lot of it actually.
