.. if people aren’t emotionally invested. ... it wouldn’t be a thing. No one would pay money to see it. That’s why a “ fan base “ is a thing. And essential to sustain it.
Why are like the last 5 or so posts being deleted ? Kind of defeats the point of having a conversation if it’s just being censored. Freedom of speech is really gone down the tubes in this country.

That’s not how freedom of speech works. While I agree that deleting these posts is OTT, “free speech” does not apply to private message boards. BWW is free to delete whatever it wants for any reason whatsoever.

Kind of suspect. That they only deleted the posts talking about Sophia being unprofessional.

Showing up to class and getting paid to be a professional and show up to work are two vastly differently things. Your comparison makes no sense at all.

Brightman was heavily criticized for his attendance during SOR. He blamed it on the strenuous nature of the role which caused him to lose weight among other things. A different issue, but still.
Sophia Anne Caruso isn't some dilettante high schooler. She's a professional who was being paid very well to do a job. Her behavior also affects her colleagues and their ability to do their jobs. Perhaps she'll gain some maturity further down the line, but if she's not at a place where she can be professional and dependable, then she needed to be let go. And it was very classy of the production to allow her to essentially control the narrative surrounding her departure -- something they definitely weren't required to do.

She’s playing a lead role in a broadway show. Sure she’s young, but she’s a professional. Comparing it to skipping an 8 am college course is way off base

It's not "suspect". That's WHY they censored it - it's not first hand or public knowledge, so they don't want people sullying her name on their site.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Yes, but now her professionalism or lack thereof has been the subject of a published article, which, by the moderator's own statements, should make it fair game for discussion provided no one here is adding further information or allegations.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Oh dear -- reading all of this reminds me of when I was an 18 year old girl and made (in hindsight) some very foolish decisions when I thought I was 'in-love' -- Sophia is a very talented girl but I suspect this may end up being quite the learning experience for her. I would think any casting director (theatre or television) would be cautious about casting someone who had this kind of article written about her behavior.

Yes but the fact that the role in SOR is now played with an alternate justifies Alex’s attendance issues."
Except that if you read the thread, it was Alex himself who didn’t want and wouldn’t accept an alternative!!
"
Except that I did read the thread and stand by my comment. So what is Alex turned down an alternate? Does that mean he should be punished for the rest of his life and any future cast mate can walk all over him because “he wouldn’t accept an alternate”
He obviously thought he could handle the role but couldn’t. Fair play to him for giving it a go even if he did eventually have to admit defeat.
Semi related- obviously they went to give the role to Presley (who I prefer) in the role but wondering...there were some nights earlier on the run when Presley went on as Lydia and Dana as Girl Scout, and others where Dana took Lydia and Presley Girl Scout. Even the weekend before they announced. Why? Curious how they decided who went on in those cases when Sophia was out (Dana vs Presley). Anyone know was one the main alternate and if so why then it wasn’t always them on the nights Sophia was out?
It's a little tacky but I'm honestly shocked that there are fans that buy their favorite stars such expensive gifts. Like a small token is fine but these gifts sound way more expensive.
Sophia's own costumes, I understand. But selling fan gifts? I never expect an actor/actress to keep every single gift, but to sell them off for a quick buck isn't very classy either. Even if Sophia herself isn't selling these, it isn't a good look for her.
Setting aside the fact that the mom is illiterate, what’s wrong with them selling off some of the tons of crap that “fans” either dropped off at the stage door or shoved into her hands as she was trying to leave? If you were to receive a piece of flea market jewelry or a scarf in the mail from a stranger would you feel obligated to keep it forever? If there are suckers willing to pay them for the junk, more power to them!
Sell whatever you want, but it's beyond tacky that her mom's depop page claims "all proceeds will be donated to Broadway Cares" if that is not in fact the case.
"I just want to take a minute and apologize to all the Beetlejuice fans out there. Today I learned a very valuable lesson as I made a mistake that I am deeply sorry for. I wanted to help Sophia By surprising her and selling items she had left at the house That I thought she no longer wanted. I was excited to post up beetle juice items for people who are fans of the show. In the stuff I posted there was a few items that had been given to her by fans, The rest of the items were gifts from me and personal clothing items. I was not thinking when I listed those items how that might make someone feel. I am deeply sorry. When it was brought to my attention that the original owners of the items were upset I realized the magnitude of my actions. Since then I have made an effort to return the items to the original owner. One item was sold and I am contacting the purchaser to issue a refund. The other items had not sold so the listing was canceled and I am shipping the jacket to the artist who made it. I am human and I to make mistakes. I have hurt Sophia with these actions. Please except my sincere apology. Deena Caruso"
BS lmao
don't message me thinking im taylor trensch?? what would he be doing on bww?? you can't possibly be that dumb bye

Considering how awful her grammar and spelling was on her original post it’s blatantly obvious she didn’t write that apology.
