Sadly it’s almost exactly the same as the first teaser, but I’ll take whatever new stuff I can get. Hopefully before too long we get a full blown long trailer.
That was a nice version of the teaser with tiny bits of new footage; the "Mambo" face off was nice, Maria and Tony face to face together and the bits of dialogue in it were unexpected. I do like this tiny exchange which I don't think was in the original musical or the 1961 film adaptation:
Yeah, that dialogue is not in either the stage play nor the 1961 film. Neither is Riff saying “Kill the lights.” I can’t wait to hear all the new dialogue. I wonder if the whole thing has been completely rewritten?
Part of me feels like they chose these particular lines for the promo because many complained that they didn’t know what In the Heights was about based on the trailers. If someone doesn’t know what WSS is about, at least they now somewhat know it’s about a Puerto Rican girl falling in love with someone not Puerto Rican lol.
I expect a full trailer sometime between late-August and September 24th.
Tony Kushner is a fantastic writer, so I have no doubt that whatever new dialogue/new scenes are in the final film, it's going to be very interesting to compare it from previous versions. Also I think the official trailer alongside it's theatrical poster (please let it be a 1960s style poster) will come in late September.
September makes the most sense because of Dear Evan Hansen and Hispanic Heritage Month begins September 15.
Yeah I have faith in Tony Kushner. I'm most excited to see how the film will be structured, the new scenes written just for this version (I'm especially curious about a previously talked about scene between Rosalia and Maria...I feel like Rosalia will have a bigger role), as well as song placements.
The 1960s style poster Disney did for Mary Poppins Returns was so good!

I want a Larry Kert/Carol Lawrence style poster"
And by that do you mean you want to see an image of Tony and Maria running down a NYC street?

Legendary poster artist Bob Peak designed a poster for the 1961 film adaptation with that iconic image in mind. Hopefully this new film could follow something similar to that.

A very good friend of mine has an original poster of WSS with this Bob Peak illustration framed in his den. It cost him around $3,000 at an auction.

… and it looks like they didn’t kiss in the middle of the dance floor in view of everybody. It looks like they went underneath the bleachers to talk which is more realistic and makes more sense than the original film and stage versions. Can it be possible they didn’t even kiss then and there because Bernardo caught them? I think that first kiss would be more impactful at the end of the balcony scene when a stronger connection has been established between them.

Then that would mean the lyric in the song 'Maria' that goes "I've just kissed a girl named Maria" would either have to be dropped or altered to fit that difference (assuming the song is in the same place as it is in both the stage version and 1961 film adaptation).
Jaunsz Kaminski is one of the best cinematographers working in Hollywood today; so there is no doubt that this movie will be beautifully shot and alongside Michael Kahn and Sarah Broshar's editing, the musical numbers will be incredible to behold.

Well, thank goodness you're not the author. I think Mr. Laurents, Mr. Sondheim, Mr. Bernstein, and Mr. Robbins knew what they were doing. I do understand that everyone is an expert in all things. :)
