You are obviously not aware that 20th Century Studios (20th Century Fox no longer exists) has a contract with HBOmax. And as I stated in my post it is a rumor - - - nothing more, nothing less.
Streaming rights of previously released films is a whole different monster than new releases, so yes I am aware. I was stating that rumor is untrue, nothing more, nothing less. It is going to Disney Plus or Hulu.

Not according to what I've heard, you see, I work in the industry. It's not something I tend to reveal except when someone such as yourself comes off as a know-it-all.
Thank you EmengardeStopSniveling (great username, by the way) for linking that article before doing it myself.
Before Disney acquired Fox, Fox went into a deal with WarnerMedia, which owns HBO. They signed a contract that extends until 2022 for exclusive releases on HBO.
West Side Story will not be streaming on Disney + or hulu...at least not immediately after the 45-day theatrical exhibition window expires.
Time Magazine interviewed Rachel and Ariana and the interviewer does mention the In The Heights colorism issue in a question to Ariana. It's short but sweet.

The destruction of San Juan Hill and the impact it had on its residents to make way for Lincoln Center is actually going to be addressed in this film.
From the article:
Rachel Zegler: “In the beginning, there’s a great monologue given by Corey Stoll, who plays Lieutenant Schrank, who talks about these people being kicked out of their homes to build the new Lincoln Center, and how they’re all wrong. They’re mad at the wrong people. They’re mad at each other because of their differences, and not understanding that they actually have a lot more in common.”
Based on info surfacing, I think it’s safe to assume this new WEST SIDE STORY will have entirely new dialogue. Kushner using the 1957 book as his source but basically rewriting everything from scratch. Reconstructing the WEST SIDE STORY we all know and making it fully authentic from its casting to its backstories while still honoring its musical theater aesthetic. I’m sure this is why Rita Moreno agreed to take part in it, which she had no intention when this new film adaptation was coming together early on.
I am all in for a new, reimagining of "West Side Story".
The source material has so much potential. I would never be interested in seeing a note-for-note, word-by-word replica, what would ever be the point of doing that when the 1961 film adaptation exists?
I am so psyched. December 10th can't get here fast enough

I remember when they started production in the Before Times. Feels like decades ago.

What exactly is “Before Times?”"
Before Times is the pre-COVID world"
Oh ok, I’ve never heard it referred to it in that way before.
Yes, it seems like it’s a whole new script but using the 1957 Broadway song structure/placements as a guide. For example I Feel Pretty is still happening in a store, but with new dialogue leading to and out of the number. Less than two more months left!!!

“America”, by the looks of it isn’t anything like the 1957 Broadway song structure, and “I Feel Pretty” in the original Broadway production took place in Maria’s bedroom - in the 1961 film it was changed to the bridal shop.

Thank you BrodyFosse123. Act 2, Scene 1 - An apartment. A bedroom and part of a parlor. The bedroom has a window opening on to the fire escape, a bed, a small shrine to the Virgin on a wall, and a curtained doorway, rear. There is a workable door between bedroom and the parlor, which has some furniture.
