I'm so happy for everyone who had such a fabulous night! Seems like I've had a few of those lately, so I know the wonderful feeling
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
Yeah I went for the signing last night too. I took a 2 hours train ride into the city, got to the theater at 9:40 and bought 2 cds. Then I waited in line for an hour and half. They were letting people into the theater in groups of 20. I was 8th in the line to get into the theater and there was about 50 people behind me when they came out and said that was it for signings. I can not express how dissapointing and sad that was last night. I stayed up till 2, spent around 60 bucks and waited in the cold for and hour and a half for nothing. Now im reconsidering weither im going to go see the show again, I am very dissapointed in the actions that were taken last night.

The cutting off of the line was advertized from the begining, it was going to happen. I am sorry that you didn't get in, but that was the chance you took, some people were in the line for since about 5 o'clock. They were not going to sign all night.

I like the CD but I have alway thought Angela was on of the most brilliant people ever.

I would just like to point out that everybody has been mentioning Brian Dennehy's prescence at the show last night, and no one seemed to notice that Michael McKean was 2 rows behind. I know because I was sitting right behind Mr Dennehy, and right in front of Mr McKean.

I understand it's not quite the same, but can't you all just wait at the stage door after any random performance (like I did) to get them to sign it?
I seemed to be the 1st to get the cd (a week ago today) and got it signed after the Friday night show (which I saw). Patti, in particular, was impressed that I had it and had a fairly long conversation with me about it.
I wouldn't have gone last night if it were for Sondheim. You are right though because anyone can go to the stagedoor after the show and get autographs. It was also an amazing opportunity to stand on a Broadway stage!
My dad and I drove two hours from Philly to get to the signing, to wait in line for an hour and have the door closed on me. They offered vouchers for the presigned cd, but I didnt come up for a presigned cd, i came to meet Sondheim. So, I waited by the stage door, Patti comes out with Stephen and they gracious signed my cd and took pictures and talked with me for a bit. I also had my playbill from the Children and Art benefit, which I got him to sign PERSONALIZED. Michael and Mano walked out after that and I got to chat with them too, but I'll be back to talk to them more on March 11, since I have seats for then. We went to the car, and the second my dad turned it on, it turned from 11:59 to midnight. Talk about a Cinderella story. I'll be posting my pictures soon, when I have time since it's finals week. just felt like sharing.

Thats such a great story! I'm happy that things worked out. When I first started to read your post I felt bad for you but you ended up getting more than any of us! Good for you and post lots of pictures!

I understand that there was a cutoff time but my point is that when you have people out there taking long journeys and waiting in the cold to see you, you should be flatered and more than happy to see them. I mean these people depend on the fans to make a living, and when it comes down to only about 50 more poeple (its not like the line was still growing), I think that they should have stayed and finished for the crowd. Now they are left with some very unhappy fans, which I feel is unfortunate to say the least.
