mine is staying the way it is, and is being put in glass. I'll buy another to listen to.

jacob, I would have totally tried to play it cool and not let him know that I saw him and that would have been a massive mistake! Geek out! that's the way to go! I'm glad you got to experience paying attention to his-wonderfulness.
NOTE: If you guys all have "classes" tomorrow, you're young enough to not need sleep!! Geez - look at all those middle age actors in Sweeney (even Tobias is 35!) - they have to do that insane performance 8 times a week!!! I know they must be sleep deprived...
I'm pretty sure he recognized me when I reached him at the table becuase he had a little 'face of acknowledgement' (when I'm tired I make up phrases).

Thank you all for sharing your exciting stories. It sounds like the event was really well organized. Having met Sondheim and the cast after the closing performance of INTO THE WOODS in 1989, I know very well the "high" you are feeling. Enjoy it! It will carry you through many dark times in the future!
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
I mean taking the cd case and book out of the box and therefore taking the chance that the o-card might get the slightest bend.

I am envious of all of you. I would have loved to be there, but alas, my boyfriend's birthday was the same day. Glad you all have awesome expieriences though!

I wanted to tease Michael by pretending to spit on the ground and then ask him who I was, but I chickened out. Ah well, it would have been funny (though not very 'lady-like') but perhaps another time!
"What a mystery this world. One day you love them and the next day you want to kill them a thousand times over." The Masked Bandit in THE FALL
Now I can actually die happy! I was at the performance and the signing! I talked to Patti LuPone, Stephen Sondheim, Michael Cerveris, and Donna Lynne Champlin (told her that she didn't mess up). I told Mr. Cerveris that it was because of him that I wanted to be on Broadway and how I myself am a guitarist.

I just want to say that I was there last night as well. My friend and I got into the theater at around 11...I think we may have been some of the last to get it. When we actually got inside, I was surprised to hear that they were playing the recording. So, when we got up to the stage, and I was standing in front of Stephen Sondheim himself, what did I ask him? "Have all of you really been listening to the cd all night?"
And he and Michael said, "We've actually long since tuned it out!!!!" and "We've set our brains on another frequency." They were very gracious and friendly. Hillarious. I got to tell Alex that I saw him in a high school production of Guys and Dolls as Nathan when we were both in high school, and we had a few small world connections.
What fun, and so well organized. Updated On: 2/1/06 at 08:58 AM
I still can't beleive that I actually got to meet Sondheim last night. It was totally worth waiting on line outside for almost two hours. After reading all the posts I am surprised that no one mentioned the fact that Brian Dennehy was at the show last night and was walking around outside the theatre at intermission and after the show. This was one experience that I will NEVER forget!!! Updated On: 2/1/06 at 11:14 AM

Actually Ms. LuPone was telling us that the one thing she regretted about the signing was that "John couldn't be here, *remembers we're here* oh... he's our..." At this point about 5 people say "director"

I actually didn't get to sleep last night (because I had to finish a paper and go to a 9am class), but it was worth it. I didn't talk to anyone aside from saying "Hi" and "Thank you," but that was good enough. I'm afriad to touch the CD now. I think I might just end up buying another one too. It's sitting on my top shelf right now, which is kind of sad, but I'd be devastated if something happened to it!
