Um...I just checked on Telecharge, and there's still plenty of tickets left for tonight.
If the cd signing takes place inside the theater, then I guess the people who saw the show DO have priority...Unless they force them all to go outside to the back of the line. Which would...suck.
Yes, but at the same time, the people sitting in the orchestra section have a better priority. My seats are in the mezzanine so I've got a lot of exercising to do to prepare to run. (Uhhh....bad joke, sorry.)

I think I'm going to try and see the show as well, but if that means having to go to the back of a line I might have to think about it.

So I'm still confused. I'm going to be there tonight, so is the signing inside the theatre? Will it be in the house, or the lobby? Will we have to leave and get in a line? Unfortunately, I can't stay if I have to leave and get in a line, I'm already not feeling well. I'm gonna be in the first row, so maybe I'll just applaud really loud and then go home.

I just got home. After standing outside for four hours I'm now the proud owner of a signed copy of Sweeney Todd. The signing could not have been more well organized. There were two lines, one for people who saw the show and one for people who didn't and they took two people from each line in turn. I was third in the line of those without tickets and the 7th person to get in for the signing.
The entire cast and Sondheim were there and signing. I said hi to most of them, but was too starstruck to speak to Sondheim. It was very cool to not only get to "meet" the entire cast, but to also get to stand on the stage.
On the way out a reporter stopped me and asked a couple of questions, so I may be quoted in the Times tomorrow.
I had the opposite experience. I ONLY talked to Sondheim...and was on SUCH a high that he actually spoke to me, I completely ignored the rest of the cast!!! lol
But yeah, VERY well organized. It was an amazing experience!!!!
Glad you guys had a nice time. I really wanted to stay after the show (First row! Got blood on me!) if only to tell the cast that the show was just so amazing my third time seeing it. But I wasn't feeling well going in and I just couldn't wait.
I guess I had my own high tonight! I couldn't think of a better show to give it to us!

Kudos to the theater staff for their organization- and compassion. I have some medical problems, and they couldn't have been nicer in accomodating me. They went above and beyond, and I thank them so much.
I had to laugh- I was thanking some of the cast for doing this, especially with a matinee tomorrow. To which, Lauren Molina replied "which is why we drink now!" (and held up her glass of wine). They were so gracious to everyone.
It was such a great experience and capped off a magnificent night.
Ohhh I want pictures of this event of the lines and cds!!!!

The signing itself was amazing! I was probably 15th in line and everything was handled wonderfully. The staff was so energetic and when they saw my shirt, asked me to sing the song...I hmmed a few notes! I wore my "Broadway Baby" shirt from the Wall-to-Wall Sondheim and Mr. Sondheim himself commented on how he liked my shirt! I almost passed out!!! I then asked if I could shake his hand, he asked what my name was and thanked me for being a fan. The whole cast was fabulous and actually recognized me from Sunday night and Alex Gemigani who performed at the Wall-to-Wall commented again on my shirt!
I also had a marvelous experience. I want to throw excellent kudos to everyone who planned the event, it was one of the best planned events I have attended since I moved to the city.
I was about 10 people behind Yoda, but in the "saw the show" line. The guy behind me was actually an aquaintance of Sondheim, his name was Jack and he regalled me with stories of seeing COMPANY in previews in Boston and telling "Steve" how much he hated it, only to recant later because he realized it was "himself he hated." He had several of these stories and was a neat older man. So, of course, I thought he was lying to me.
I got to the stage and jabbered wordlessly at Patti, and the guy says to Sondheim (who was next in line), "Did you get my note?" Sondheim says back, "Of course I did, Jack, we will have drinks Friday." I was astounded, but I had a segway. I said to Sondheim, "I never sent you any notes, but I wish I had. I guess I don't know you all that well." Sondheim, Patti, and Michael all laughed, and I said, "I wish I did though, of course as it is, all I do is listen your music all the time." Sondheim said, "Thank you for that." and I said, "No, Thank you for making it." I made Stephen sondheim blush.
I was too flabbergasted to speak to anyone else until Diana, who apparently decided I didn't want Benjamin or Lauren's sig, because she handed it to me. I said, "I wanted their signatures too." "Really," I think she was joking.
Of course, it was nearly full and Benjamin talked about not having room for his long name. I joked that Lauren was going to sign right over the middle. Then he also handed it back to me also. I said, "No I REALLY want hers." He said, "She will you know."
Lauren was so cute and tiny, I was able to tell her she was my favorite Johanna, and she blushed and said "thanks, so much." She was so, so cute doing it. She kind of balled up like she was embarassed.
I was also there. It was incredible. I did SRO for the actual show and got to meet an amazing man, who has been a Sweeney lover since the OBC. Before I talk about the actual signing I just have one little thing I need to mention about the show.
*SPOILER*
As Toby is killing Sweeney the guy standing next to me tapped me on the shoulder and whispered "look to your left". Standing RIGHT NEXT TO ME, was Mr. Sondheim, watching his show with a HUGE smile on his face. Both this man standing next to me and I were in total shock. He ran out during the curtain call, clapping louder than most people in the theater.
Now to the actual signing: The wait was not that long, and there were many fans to talk to while waiting. The man who was standing next to me in SRO was standing behind me in line and we were talking about his thoughts on the OB show compared to this, amazing. The line moved fast enough that it wasn't a pain waiting to get in, but it moved slow enough that I had time to talk to EVERY SINGLE cast member. I told Ms. LuPone that this was my second time seeing the show and that her performance both times was flawless. She laughed and told me thank you. I told Sondeheim how much I loved his work and how this show was the best theatre I had ever seen, and he smiled at me and told me that he agreed. I also had the chance to talk to Alexander Gemignani and Manoel Felciano about rehearsals, to which Donna Lynne Champlin and Diana MiMarzio also commented on.
Now, I get back to my dorm, look on BWW for pictures and see this:
The man in the forground is the man I stood with at SRO. The girl in the background got a compliment from Ms. Lupone on her coat "That is a fabulous coat, I love it". In between the two of them you can see a little streak of blue (it looks like it is coming out of the man's jacket" and a blurry hand. THAT IS ME, AND I AM TALKING WITH STEPHEN SONDHEIM, WHO IS SIGNING MY CD.
I just thought I would share that.

I can't believe you had that experience at the end of the show with Sondheim next to you - wow! What a dream! I'm glad everyone seems to have had such an amazingly rewarding experience - isn't it intense to stand on the stage??!!
Wow - wish i was there, but no such luck. I was, however, rooting for you all from far away.
By the time I got to the assembly line the line was moving pretty smoothly so I didn't have much time to talk but I did get to talk to him a little bit. It was amazing.
Inthered- It was INSANE. My new friend and I were just like, *stare at Sondheim...try and watch the show...look for Sondheim's reaction...try and watch the show...stare at Sondheim...etc*
