My name's Jaime. I'm from Minnesota and LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE (hope you guys like O's...LOL!) musicals and Broadway. First person to guess what musical my screenname is from gets a cookie...an imaginary cookie, of course!
Not that I couldn't make you a real one.
I'm serious.
I make great cookies. LOL, jk.
Aaaaaaaanyways, I'm really excited to be here and talk about musicals with you guys (my favorites are Rent, Spamalot, and Xanadu - those are the ones I saw on my only trip into the city)! I just made this thread for two reasons. One, hi. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to all of you. Two, I was wondering if any of you knew about the musical Sweeny Todd? I just found out about it yesterday. I couldn't believe that there was a musical based on the movie with Johnny Dep! I've been listening to the soundtrack over and over, almost as much as the Wicked soundtrack. Don't worry, I'm not a crazy Wicked fan or anything like that. I am, however, a craaaaaaaazay RENT FAN! That's sort of an indie, under the radar show so I don't know if many of you know about it.
They should definitely put the musical of Sweeny up on Broadway. If they couldnt get the original movie cast, this is who I think would be greaaaaaaat...
Sweeny: Cheyenne Jackson (soooo cute...who's he dating? Is he available...? =) Mrs. Lovett: Cameron Diaz (IDK if she can sing, but she'd be so funny. And be a sexy Lovett, too - J. Depp could do soooo much better than Helena) Beetle: Nathen Lane Judge Turpen: Matthew Brodrick (It'd be so cool to see him and Nathan together again...they were soooo funny in the Producers movie, and I just found out they were both in The Lion King)! Joanna: Taylor Swift Anthony: Any of the Jonases...take your pick...=) Tobie: Freddie Highmore
Well, that's my whole "schpeel". I'll see you around, guys!

Erm...well those are the only one's Ive seen, but my school did Guys and Dolls last year and I really got into that, and I LOVE the Chicago and West Side Story movies.

I'm guessing that your musical screen name is... GYPSY?!

The Girl In Rubber, you remind me of someone I know very well.
Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing Freddie Highmore as Toby. Granted, I think his voice has broken by now (he's seventeen, after all), so he'd be too old to play Toby in the style of the film, but in a few years, he could be quite good as Toby in the stage tradition of casting a young-looking adult.

THEY SHOULD PUT THESE PEOPLE IN PHANTOM OR MAYBE IN THE SEQUEL
PHANTOM - ZAC EFRON CHRISTINE - IDINA THE OTHER GUY - MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY CARLOTTA - BEYONCE OLD DANCE TEACHER WHO LIKE KNEW STUFF ABOUT THE PHANTOM - MILEY CYRUS
You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl
"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor
"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl
"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott
Your "dream cast"...not so dreamy...that's like a nightmare cast of Sweeney Todd, and the movie is based on the musical, not the other way around. and I don't know which show you said was an indie show either RENT or Sweeney Todd, but neither of them are, both have won Tonys and have a large fan base
